This was a commissioned piece. A friend asked me to do a dragon in the form of a birthday card for a friend of hers last year. The original was done in pencil then traced over with felt tip pen. This is actually a newer version. The original had no border so I looked for an image that resembled a scroll and found the border that is present. Using Photoshop I adjusted the two images and combined them. I am working on a colored version of this. What I'm particularly pleased with is how the border along the bottom has ended up matching the line on the table. I also chuckle when I look at the face of the little girl on the right hand side. I just like how I captured the surprise on her face. While I was creating this image I was imagining a pet dragon, wanting to be helpful, trying to light the candles for the girl on the left. In horror she's saying No, no, no! While the girl on the right is just surprised that the birthday girl has such a large pet. Last time she saw the creature it was tiny now it's larger than the castle wall. The little girl in the middle is just amused (and a little horrified) that the dragon is trying to light the candles but doesn't know how to taper it's flames so is melting the cake instead.
