SciFi and Fantasy Art Demon-succubus by Alina Nesterova

One day when I felt bored and tired, I decided to have some fun to get distracted a bit. I took my favourite book - 'The Encyclopaedia of Supernatural Creatures' and started scanning it hoping to see something that would inspire me. And I really did - I found a picture of a succubus and it was so nice that I decided immediately to draw her myself. I took a pencil, a sheet of paper and sat down on my sofa. In a half and hour it was ready. You might want to know why I liked that strange and frightening creature. If so, I can tell you why it had come out so. In my world succubi live in caves and do not get out of there till the night comes. Then they fly out and get to a nearby town. There they hunt lecherous men and lure them to some lonely places, where they drink their blood, yes, their blood of sinners. Well, I really like succubi for that. A very good idea to eliminate the evil that lives among us in such a way. Though you may disagree with me here.

I agree with you 100%! i wish they could actually get rid of many more types of bad persons in the world than what they're said to be able to already! She's gorgeous! (I wish) That she were real & I could fall in love with her.... That would be possible wouldn't it? Me being a dragon & all...
21 Jun 2001	Dan	Loading... As I recall succubi were supposed to act at the beck and call of witches, attacking not "lecherous" men but virtuous Christians. Likewise there were male demons called incubi which performed a similar function in reverse. Incubus and succubus are the Latin names, of course; the English was "night-mare" (which has since come to mean simply a bad dream). Anyway the whole incubus-succubus myth was part of the justification for persecuting witches in the middle ages, so I have to say I disagree rather with the way they're portrayed here. Er... nice drawing though.
24 May 2003	Jeremy	Loading... Awwww, I kind of liked the idea of demons being akin to angels, but are on "friendly" terms with sinners stead of the virtuous... Though is still quite good, an interesting spin on them.
29 Jun 2005	Anonymous	Loading... I was browsing Elfwood and found this pic, with great surprise. I know a demonologist who enjoyed this particular image of a succubus enough that, for his own summoning of a succubus, he used it as the base picture during an obsessionalism ritual. Didn't suspect this is where it came from. Never really asked more about it, but it's good enough that this guy deemed it worthy of iconizing. Good work.
9 Jul 2007	Meow	Loading... I heard, once again, another version. My idea of succubus was a demon that took the shape of a mortal woman, seducing innocent men while they slept. It was an excuse for sexual dreams and thoughts as such things were seen as sinful in the days succubi were thought to exist.
