SciFi and Fantasy Art Spotty and Chaka (Centaurs) by Alina Nesterova

These two centaurs are Chaka and Spotty, both the characters from my dreams. Spotty is a beautiful young filly, she is immensely attractive and there is not a stallion who does not fall in love with her from first sight. However, she is too proud and knows her own value. It is often that she makes acquaintance with stallions and they almost immediately propose to her, but she is not quick to accept their propositions. She likes to play with them, making them think she likes them, but then she says bye to them and that is usually the end of the love affair. But with Chaka things are different. They got acquainted near a river, Spotty was hunting the ducks there and Chaka went there to drink. It's hardly necessary to say that Chaka fell in love with Spotty the moment he caught sight of her. However, he did not show that then, and that first nearly insulted Spotty and then confused her. Taken aback by Chaka's superficial indifference, she started showing to him that he was to her liking, succeeding finally in making him confess and say the words of love to her. But by that time she already felt that she was not able to stop that game of hers and say good-bye to Chaka, because she had liked him so much. But Chaka, who had been doing his best to please her by presenting her with flowers and other gifts still failed to make Spotty agree to be his Life Friend. She just turned away scornfully, rejecting the presents every time he turned up holding a rose or a jewel in his hand. So it had been going on like that for quite a time. And I personally have a pretty vague idea about what that affair will end with. Let's hope for the better, maybe Spotty will pronounce the words Chaka is so impatiently waiting for…

24 Jan 2002	Fantasyrider3	Loading... I love the pic. The equine bodys are great. I can never get the emotion to go into my pictures like you can. Spotty is pretty and the way her hair flows kinda adds on to the mood. Even the small things fit right into the picture.Great job!

I like it, one peice of advice though: Try not to draw both bodies from the side, its kinda cliched and it makes it look like you traced it out of one of those "how to draw 100 horses" books. But if you want to ignore me, go on ahead hundreds of others do. You'll be popular! ignore me!
10 Sep 2005	Jessie 'Ithildae' Ranby	Loading... Lovely picture, you've got the anatomy down and as always your work is very pleasant to look at. I'd say listen to Sam, because he makes a good point, although I don't think your pictures look traced. Also, Spotty is a Mary Sue. This makes me want to save poor, poor Chaka from her sparkly clutches and spork her to d - ah - cough dress her down a little. Okay, so I'm allergic to Sues, and thus my reactions are a tad extreme ... but if you're thinking about serious character creation you should consider giving her some weaknesses and making her not ridiculously attractive and loved by all. The first thing that comes to mind is her snobbishness backfires on her when she ends up driving everyone away, and she ends up having to learn to apologize and behave rather more nicely before she can eventually win some friends and even Chaka back. If she's just a fun pet character you'll keep mostly to yourself, though, then hey - go right ahead. Just be aware of what she is.
