This drawing has a very sad story. Chiron and had been chatting over ICQ and I was trying to persuade him to take up drawing. He said he had no talent and that his fingers were only good to type and to click. I told him he should at least try to draw something. At last he agreed to try his hand at drawing and asked me to help him with a piece of advice on how to draw centaurs, I supplied him with a short manual and a scheme. Then I went to the country for a couple of days hoping to get a letter from him on coming back. It came indeed, but there was nothing in it but his disappointment and irritation. He had not managed to draw anything suitable but a god-awful picture of something I cannot give name to. But his letter made me really upset. His complaints about his inability to see things and blah-blah-blah spoilt my mood completely. I had had an idea in my mind to draw a centaur before that, but after I'd read Chiron's letter all hope and high spirits left me. I pictured a centaur, indeed, but I killed him, that was also true :((( He was running somewhere, to his filly perhaps, he was young and happy. But I shot him and the arrow pierced his chest and struck his heart. He stumbled and fell down with a short groan… Sad as it is, this picture is not at all devoid of something positive. When I showed this it to Chiron it made him understand what his complaining tone and words about his being unable to do things can lead to. He promised me never again to spread the catching disease of bad mood in his letters, and always think positively. I'm glad the death of that young centaur was not in vain.

Sad story (snif, snif) ´_` . Well, else than that, this picture raises a very interesting problem, “where is the heart of the centaur, is it in the man, or in the horse ???” ~_^ . Beautiful piece of work.

I once had the same thoughts of my own abilities and talents. I had the good fortune of finding a self-teaching book called, "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. It's for folks who want to draw, but feel they have no 'talent.' Her methods really work! It takes some time and effort, so you have to really want it, but if you do, you *can learn* to draw! Go4it!

Your equine poses are brilliant. I am soooo jealous. Mine come out looking more like cleydsdales more than dainty appaloosas (those are the prettiest horses in the world!) I mosly have toruble with the legs. That's why I always mke the tail long enough to be blown across the back ones so you can't see them **grins craftily**

The horse body is good. The human body is just not very realistic

That is so sad, and he looks so young, his whole life was ahead of him... and in response to an earlier comment, I think maybe the centaur has 2 hearts, it would make sense, cows have 4 stomachs why can't a centaur have 2 hearts?

The braids in the tail are a nice touch.

It seems like he leaped, perhaps to get out of the way, perhaps to save someone else, and now he's falling. Beautiful.

Well...1 heart or 2; if the arrow was tipped with Hydra venom, it wouldn't matter where it hit him....
