YES!!*does the first comment dance...is getting better no accidents this time*. Nice pice Kontis..is that devious looking mermaid the same character played by the Octopus lady in the Disney movie?! You really add details to all your pics...how long did this one take?

:-) Spyros Kontis replies: "Well... it took about 24 years!"

I don't think she necessarily looks evil, and I don't think the character was necessarily evil. The Little Mermaid asked her for a favor and she granted it. Anyway, ranting aside, this is a great picture, with wonderful atmosphere and composition.

Love everything to do with this picture, due to the fact that the little mermaid is a cool video. Great atmosphere, colour, mood and details!!!!!

I really like your artwork, but I particularly like this one. As much as I can sometimes appreciate Disney, I hate how they soften stories and change endings-your "sea witch" is much better than the half octopus in the cartoon Mermaid. Dude, I like how you at least try to stick to the ideals of the original stories. Awesome illustrations.

I love the idea of the Sea Witch being a mermaid. Disney’s Sea Witch, Ursala, has always scared the crud out of me. But maybe you shouldn’t have made the Witche’s hair red, considering Disney made the Lil’ Mermaid have red hair. But other than that, I really like the picture.

Lisa Coleman, I kind of agree with you, not totally, but a little. I mean, Disney is the one that made the Ursala plan on attacking the ocean. In the original, she didn’t do that. Heck in the original, Ariel’s father wasn’t a human hater. I think the Sea Witch was evil, just not as evil as Disney portrayed. 3
