This is a female unseelie or drow in the throes of exstatic (or painfull) spellcasting. The inspiration was the comic book character of black orchid, who has a very fay quality to her. Done in pastels about 18X24.

TO; Amy Hicks-Daniels From (guess who) Bill Taylor Lady....I don't know where to start. I am entitled to my opionion without being told to screw off. I happen to believe that this picture (photo) shows pain. The pain that is being felt is obviously, by a woman. You must understand, there are people (read men) that get their jolly's looking at this type of expose. This is not art.....It is EXPLOITATION!!!! Well. I guess you could read that into it. I certainly didn't intend this to be exploitative. And I will call it art. Art, art, art! I spent the time choosing the colors and applying the pastels. I tried to capture an emotion, in this case rage, pain, fury, whatever. How that is exploitation I do not know. I see lots of Christs nailed to little crucifixes, and I don't hear any outcry over that. Enough said, I'm at least glad that the image has generated some interest. And sir, why not leave your email and not just your name so others can express their opinions to you directly? 2

Sorry, Mr. Taylor, but I think you're seriously reaching for something that wasn't there to begin with. The pain shown in this picture is something that generates sympathy. But I guess that level of thought is beyond your grasp. Oh well. You might not want to visit my gallery, then. I've got an untitled piece in there that will just make you scream "EXPLOITATION OF MEN!" Anyways, with that little diatribe out of the way, Kort, I find your work to be fascinating. I like how you achieved the look of energy just peeling off of her. Nice and dynamic.

I can't help but wonder how mr. bill sees the artwork of such people as picasso and munch...who regularly depicted both women and men in states of agony....I guess by his standards, Picasso wasn't much of an artist.... btw, I think this is a great painting, full of emotion and life...great job on the colors, too...they really help covey the message of dispair as well as pain. Good grief, I can't get that link to my gallery to work, it says my user name isn't valid... oh well.

Ecstasy and pain do seem to bring the same facial expression. Sometimes pain is ecstasy. For some of us weirdos at least. 12
great colors!

The expression here is wonderful. Love your colour combinations, and how you contrasted the red and black with the soft pastals. Nice going ^-^

This piece of art is masterfully done, the emotions ooze from the work. Also a great use of color. Wonderful! You conveyed the emotion so very well.

Oh, "Bill Taylor", I don't think it is your place or anyone else's to tell someone that they can't call something art. They put there talent, time, and creative energy into a piece and just because you don't agree with the subject matter doesn't give you the right to be down right rude and insulting by saying it isn't art.

I personally love this piece. It would take forever for me to explain why so I will simply say that this piece is a picture of Soul. Perhaps only in the basic form but I believe the rage, and pain were fit into the emotion of the picture quite nicely. I love it.
