Innocence Stained

By Kristen Sun

The tears roll gently down his face

He knows that he has failed

Crouching down he submits to the pain

The ivory rose lies crushed in his hand

His wings wrap around his tender body

He does not deserve these wings nor the love

He strokes his wings gently and knows they must go

Alone in his silent misery

He knows that he will never go back

He spreads his wings one last time

Picks up the rusty scissors

And he cuts

The pain is intense

He cries out as one wing comes out

Then the other

They will remain here for all eternity

A cruel reminder of God’s glory

He lays screaming in fear

Staring at the blood-stained scissors

Looks back at the gates

Sees the unforgiving faces

He knows he must go

He is now the Fallen

Hail Mary, Mother of God

Pray for us sinners now and at the time of our deaths

Amen.

All that is left

An ivory rose stained crimson

Oooo... so very sad? What persuaded you to write this type of a poem? There is always a story behind the poem, and this definately has one... I think that you should draw a picture, or illistrate a picture and write a story to go along with both the poem and drawing... i am soooo curious? what did the poor fallen angel do? And if he was looking back at the gates of heaven, and faces of other angels were looking back at him, does that mean he had indeed fallen? or was he about to fall?

Don't you just love it when people ask questions? ^.^

I had a clear image that it was a poem about Lucifer because of, hmm, I don't know the grammatical terms in English, but because you wrote "I am now _the_ Fallen" and I really love the duality of both good and evil (though he is the ultimate evil you still feel sorry for him for no one is pure evil).
Anyways, this is very beautiful and it is really starting people's imagination - well done! 2

What incredible imagery! I was wincing at the scissors cutting...that hurt. You describe how he feels very, very well.
And the use of that prayer at the end...and the rose. This is just exquisite.

13 Christina Lee replies: "Yay!!! Thank you! This is acutally one of my favorites! ^_^"

Eehh... More sadness. You're not a happy writer, now i feel bad.
Heh, when i was reading, my eyes got as wide as the computer monitor when i got to the part about him taking the scissors to his wings.

8 Christina Lee replies: "Just look at my face. Do I look happy? Just kidding! ^_^ Don't feel bad, I'm a happy person! "

The title has inevitably appealed my interest in the beginning, and I'm glad that it didn't disappoint me. This is truly a beautiful poem. I could really see the images in my head-and most importantly, his feelings and emotions.
Well done!

Beautiful...I really loved the first half of the poem. It reminded me a little of my story Aurora, but yours is much more powerful. Great stuff! I am quite impressed *hands you an oreo*

1 Christina Lee replies: "Thank you, but I'm sure your story is really good! I must go and read it! *eats oreo* Chomp chomp chomp!"

Full of emotion and a deep sense of loss. I immediately thought of Lucifer as I was reading. You have managed to evoke, in a touching and beautiful way, the feeling of separation and the pain of knowing the ultimate loss.

1 Christina Lee replies: "Aww...thank you for the kind comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it! "
