One of MY favourites. It is my view of the Nightmares from D&D.

Now I realize that he reminds a bit the Dark Avanger.

Cool...it’s like a horse, yet not quite like a horse...it almost looks like it’s meant to walk on its hind legs, maybe because they kind of resemble human legs, at least the top half...anyway, whatever kind of creature it is, it’s creepy 19) My favorite part is the fiery mane and tail though, it actually looks like real fire instead of merely being fire-colored 19)

:-) M. B. Savchovska replies: "Who knows? Perhaps the mane and tail are really made of true fire. 12 As for the creature - that’s kinda my vision of a nightmare (like those in DnD). Thank you!"

I am a horse nitpicker, so it’s obvious to me, that this is not meant to be a real life horse, but an evil creature from hell! Very well done! I imagine it has a dragon or tyrannosaurus in his ancestry, mostly visible in his hind legs.
I like the very dramatic composition of this picture. The sketchy style leaves room for the imagination of what goes on in the background.

:-) M. B. Savchovska replies: "Wow, thanks! I never figured out that about the background myself. It was quite by chance this effect! But, well, thanks a lot! I don’t know what kind of ancestors does the nightmares have, but the tyrannosaurus is an interesting idea, thanks! 2 "

It does look rather surreal. I like the coloring too.

That pic kinda blows

Ooh! I love it, so dynamic and beautiful colors to. There is no reason to stick with the pictures in the monster manual, some of them are pretty crappy anyway.

:-) M. B. Savchovska replies: "True. Many pictures even I would say, especially when we speak about equines and dragons. Anyway, DnD is very popular, so....Thanks for commenting. 2 "

Is that the mane in a curl on the demon horse’s left side (our right)? I like the mane and tail, they almost seem to be part flame. To anyone who thinks the mane & tail are too long for a horse, look at pictures of Friesians without their hair trimmed. 10 I think the mount is scary because you expect a horse, but the longer you look at this, the more you realize he looks like some not-quite-right creature with parts that look too skeletal or too muscular. Sort of what’s left with zombies and other undead - muscles and bone. Ew, hehe 2

:-) M. B. Savchovska replies: "Not that my idea was to make him resemble an undead, but.... thanks anyway! 2 In fact I rather call a nightmare ardarian which means "dragon-stallion". That light thing on his left/right side IS the end of his mane.

Btw, thanks again, and THANK YOU for you mentioned that horse-breed. I saught a few in the net and I FELL IN LOVE!!"

Except for the horse's anatomy this is an awesome drawing.

This is pretty amazing. My main subject is equines and I think it’s lovely. Your grasp of anatomy is very good (I don’t know what that one was talking about with backwards knees), and I think that other should just learn to shut their mouths. This is a piece (I think) designed for composition and skill, not a study on equine conformation. Your usage of lighting and style enhances the viewing pleasure of the picture - and things that others have seen as ’mistakes’, I see as artistic explorations. That’s what makes fantasy art great, after all! I like your shading and musculature definition, most of all. The background is delightfully vague but foreboding, and I think that it suits the subject well.

Wonderful. You should be proud.

:-) M. B. Savchovska replies: "Thank you. I actually know what the others were talking about with the anatomy criticism and I cannot disagree to them too. You are right about one thing: here twas an artistic exploration kinda, cuz I didn’t know at that time what a horse’s anatomy is really like. Here’s what I spontaneously imagined. 12 Thanks for the comment."

this picture is awesome I like the mood you set in the background. The only thing I see, is the mane. That horses hair looks like he went to an AC/DC concert, did that to his hair, and tatood his butt. Great job l;ooks awesome.

:-) M. B. Savchovska replies: "Ahahahah! AC/DC, ok, I DEFINITELY like that! 1 "
