"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." --- Matthew, 2:1-2.

This picture isn't finished yet; still need to find time to color it.  Got this idea in my head sometime before Christmas, and just recently, I finally prodded my lazy butt into doing it. I feel since God gave me this talent, I should use it to glorify Him more...but for the most part, I can only draw dragons, so I made the wise men Oriental dragons...and...um...there we go....  :-]  In panel two is a mystic, bringer of gold; panel three is a young prince, bringer of frankincense; panel four is a general, bringer of myrrh.

Micron pens,  12 x 18 inches, Jan. 2006.

This is absolutely stunning! I have one, perhaps very strange suggestion though: please don't colour it! I like it best the way it is..

and here's a thought, without using it to humanise the dragons, no tails,... think about it? Kudos to a God loving person not ashamed to say it too :->

no no, not a whole dragon nativity scene, the three kings are three dragons yes, but have them visiting a geographically correct jeruselum at a culturally correct "barnyard" whatever it actually was to bless a biologically correct turn of the century jewish family from the middle east. Dragons hold significance... but i'd kinda mess with the design to make it less evil western dragon without being totally chinese (or mayBE totally chinese) dragon, and definitely no wings. Whaddya think?

Excellent man, i love this.

^^ i heart this pic! I love the concept of it! The dragons and their clothes are amazing, i especially like how the mystic is looking towards the star, it gives the peice that extra little bit of movement. I've looked through soo many pics on elfwood (no kidding) and i always smile when I run across this one. Keep it up -your creativity inspires me ^^

Great picture, and the idea is just excellent! I like how each of the dragons is in a separate section of the picture, as is the star over Bethlehem, and how all three of them look slightly different.
