Second, Abdul never existed. The Necronomicon, as portrayed in Lovecraft's work, never existed (though there have been a plethora of books of the dead). The best site for information on it is (http://www.hplovecraft.com/creation/necron/letters.asp). And check wikipedia for a list of possible translations of the word Necronomicon. | |

| 17 Dec 2006 | Anonymous1 | Loading...Just to say - love the pic, and have to agree with the comments above that HPL wasn't simplistic and that there is great depth to his work. You're also right that the poster above has totally lost the plot on the origins of many of HPLs ideas.
It's nice to see Cthulhu treated with respect in this picture, I agree that he is often made 'cartoony'.
Thanks for drawing this and doing a tribute to the creation of a great writer!
p.s. yes, the person who thinks Abdul Alhazred was real, and that HPL copied his stories from the Necronomicon probably needs locking away themselves.... | |
