SciFi and Fantasy Art Nithyara - Nightshimmer by Kristina ´Aryana´ Siers

The Nithyara are are copyrighted by me and my friend Bine, so please don't steal them! This is Nightshimmer, one of the main characters of a story I write together with my artist friend Freawyn. He's special among his people, for he's an albino and therefore the normally grey-silvery signs on his skin appear to be blood-red. He's a guardian and keeper of legends, a storyteller and a warrior. Looks a bit seductive here...*grins*
Pencil sketch colored with colored pencils. His pose was a challenge, I did it to practice anatomy, but I failed badly - his head and upper body is slightly too big for his legs. :-)

This is an interesting character...I just can't get the vision of white skin with blood red "tattoos" all over it...like veins you can see...AAAAHHHH!!! Kristina 'Aryana' Siers replies: "smiles I know I created something completely mad as I created the Nithyara. When I have enough spare time I will translate one of my stories dealing with them and put it up in my Wyvern's. maybe they are understood better, then. The tattoos are signs of honor and wisdom, and Nightshimmer is the only one who wears them in blood red. If he wasn't albinotic, they would be grey. And they aren't given with a needle like normal tattooes, this special signs are woven by magic. Thanks for commenting!"
31 Oct 2004	Brian L. Husted	Loading... Nice job, I like the character design, very cool. I wouldn't sweat it about the anatomy, we never learn and improve without trying. I'd recommend looking through magazines and pictures and doing a lot of gesture sketches, get a good feel for how the size and shape of the human body and how it moves. If all else fails, just look in a mirror or snap a photo of someone in a similar pose as your composition. Remember that some of the best artists out there use reference materials as a basis for their artwork. Kristina 'Aryana' Siers replies: "Thanks for your advice! A friend gave me a book with lots of photos of humans on different poses as a birthday present, I used it for this pose - but I still need practice. "
