A phoenix, as this creature lives in my imagination - kind of cross-breed between a paradise bird and a peacock (although I had to cut off his wonderful peacock tail, because the original was too big for my scanner). I drew him for a hobby artist's exibition in my hometown. Pastels.

I love the way the horizontal strokes in the fire and in the sky unite the picture. Nice job.

He is even in the tour you made for us, and I didn't comment on him yet. Strange again... I love your phoenix, you know. He is as powerful as a phoenix should be, butalso his eyes look intelligent and somehow there seems to be brightness in his soul, and warmth is what his feathers show as well. I especially like the ones on his head, but the whole phoenix looks very firy. Also I like the contrast between the night and this phoenix, and how there is gloom around him. Hm.... perhaps he would make a groovy bedside table lamp? no, just a joke... *g*

:-) Kristina 'Aryana' Siers replies: "1 He is in our bedroom, but not as a lamp, but framed on the wall. I am glad you like him. It was my first attempt on a phoenix, and this is only the upper half of the pic - it was too big for my poor scanner. He has such a beautiful tail in the original pic. *sigh* I love how the colors came out."

I don't think I've ever seen a phoenix drawn during nighttime. It was my thinking that since the phoenix is a bird of flame, it would light up the area around it. But there's nothing wrong with taking a different approach to things. This one turned out pretty. I like how the strokes in the background kind of give it an oil painting feel. 2

:-) Kristina 'Aryana' Siers replies: "Thanks so much for the nice comment! I drew a nighttime background because I wanted to make his flaming feathers outstanding. 1 Never thought about that the phoenix is so much more a creature of the sun..."

Ooo! So nice! I really like the way you've got the colors to flow nicely into eachother and all! And I don't know why, but I think it's a sort of sad pic... And I think the background is so nice! Good work! Keep it up!

:-) Kristina 'Aryana' Siers replies: "Thanks so much! 1 Why do you think it's sad? Maybe he looks kind of longing..."

Beautiful drawing! The glow around the phoenix and the moon makes very special mood. Moreover, I really like the colours of the phoenix...
Well done!

:-) Kristina 'Aryana' Siers replies: "Thank you! This one was really fun to draw, my second attempt ever with soft pastels. *loves soft pastels*"

I like the contrast and the texture of the flaming feathers. Nice work! *smiles*

:-) Kristina 'Aryana' Siers replies: "Hiya, nice to see you again in here! Happy you like him, he took me quite a while... and when he was finished I had to clean my kitchen from all the dust the pastels had left..."
