Well, the other day I got a sudden urge to write a poem that started with 'Boom, boom go the drums'. Then once I had the first stanza, I decided that I would write a poem from the point-of-view of a servant of the dark. Hope you like this as much as I do. :)

Boom, boom go the drums,

Thud, thud beats my heart.

Run, run chants my mind,

As I dash through the dark.

Till the end they never guessed,

That I always knew their plans.

I betrayed them to the dark,

And spread strife throughout their clans.

Boom, boom, sound the drums,

Thud, thud beats my heart.

Now the pursuit is coming quickly,

As I race on through the dark.

I don’t know how he found me,

Their champion of light;

But I see him there before me

And I know I’ll have to fight.

Boom, boom pound the drums,

In cadence with my heart.

Swords slide from their sheltering sheaths,

Blades flashing in the dark.

I leap at him my sword raised high,

But he deflects the blow.

He parries with a sideways cut,

My blood begins to flow.

Boom, boom, I curse the drums,

Echoed by my pounding heart.

Our swords clash and crash again,

Light grapples with the dark.

Then comes the final, crushing blow,

As my sword comes arching down;

But time is up, his blade slides home,

And I tumble to the ground.

Boom, boom, the drums are fading,

Like the last beats of my heart.

There is no help or hope tonight,

For the agent of the dark.

Good job, I liked it. The drums added alot to the poem, and the end was perfect. =)

13 Jennifer L. Post replies: "Yeah, the end IS pretty snazzy if I do say so myself (which I do). ^-^ lol, can't believe I just said snazzy.... *laughing at herself*This was the one that Sasha was trying to get me to read at WC. Do you remember that?"

Velly kewl. Is this dark agent as in "The Dark Is Rising" or dark agent as in general minion of random evil-ness?

2 Jennifer L. Post replies: "Probably more like a random minion of evil. ^-^ Although it does kind of remind me of that now that you mention it. Heh."
