Lauren Noyes

Lauren is trying to keep her balance on the tightrope of life.

'With what characters she had filled this lost stage of emptiness! It was here that she would see the people of her imagination, the fierce figures of her making, as they strolled from corner to corner, brooded like monsters or flew through the air like seraphs with burning wings, or danced, or fought, or laughed, or cried. This was her attic of make-believe, where she would watch her minds companions advancing or retreating across the dusty floor.' ~Mervyn Peake, 'Titus Groan'

'Truth is never a wrong answer'~Brother Cadfael

You know what "Beast," You sound pretty creapy to me. As in Stalker Creapy. I sure am glad I don't know you, I'd be likely to call for the police.

Nice artwork to the Artist in any case. You may have quite a career ahead of you in cartooning or costume designing.

:-) Lauren Noyes replies: "Thanks for your lovely compliments and for looking at my work. "

Wonderful 2D abstracted figures. Would be curious to see you try your hand at more depth and perspective. Maybe you do I don't know.... but I am more impressed than I thought I would be.

:-) Lauren Noyes replies: "Thank you very much for your interest and comments. Depth and perspective dont come easily to me, which is why I enrolled in a drawing class at school. But I'm making progress. Practice makes perfect and all that. Thanks again."

A great number of us here are very impressed with the lovely lady Lauren's work, and have therefore taken to writing a poem about her which we would like to share with all of her other admirers.

She's Lauren, and She Draws Elves

Lauren, Lauren, Lauren
So cool you'd think she's foreign
But no! She's not, she was born that way
The coolness is ingrained like wood inlay

She laughs with strength, smiles like a bad...donkey
Looks good in black, is a lovely lass (it rhymes...)
As if she could be any more spectacular
She is! She draws what is known as in our vernacular...

ELVES! ELVES! ELVES ELVES ELVES!
SHE LIKES TO DRAW THEM AND SHOW THEM TO YOU!
SO MANY ELVES THEY MUST MULTIPLY LIKE BUNNIES!
SO MANY BUNNIES...AND SO MANY ELVES!
EVER SEE THE DARK CRYSTAL? IT'S LIKE FOR EVERY BUNNY THERE ARE TWENTY ELVES!!! AND THEY'RE ALL COUNTERPARTS AND THEY'RE ALL DRAWN AND EXHIBITED BY....

Lovely...lovely....Lady Lauren

:-) Lauren Noyes replies: "Thanks for the poem, Jocy, and for looking around the gallery. ps. I think you should show this poem to Catherine. It might just make her day. lol"

I LOVE YOUR NEW PORTRAIT! and your work, hehe, but then, you already knew that ;-) I hope 1

LOVE, ATHENA THE GREAT
or something less pompous like,
love from, the jellyfish of almond avenue.

Nice choice for thumbnail as well. *gushgushgush* so jealous . . . hehehe

A sparse amount of time-and I wandered (finally) into your gallery. Elfwood has finally allowed me to look for the artists I actually know. A glance shows some magnificent inner transitions, and although I am merely an observer of the visual realms, I have a few queries. Your work (your art) surrounding the face appears frequently in profile. For a change in perspective, what would appear if the identity or entity was glimpsed from above, through tree leaves, or from behind, as in a crowded market? Would the identity be changed if the facial features and the emotions expressed were secondary? How does body language relate an emotion? You are to be congratulated-I don't look for specific artists unless I miss someone-and its rather odd seeing art I knew as a form on pape translated electronically. hurrah!

You have talent and great determination (I can't color a whole background without doing it with photoshop...) I like your drawing and can't wait to see your more recent work.

1 Lauren Noyes replies: "Wow, thank you so much!!! Thats means alot to me from an artist of your caliber! Newer things should be forthcoming soon!"

MmmMmm elves. Can't go wrong with those hotties! I also like your dragon, that's an interesting medium to use. I think your black and white work is nice. I find that if I'm using pencil or ink sometimes it's a good idea to darken areas considerably compared to others..brings them out more. 21hrugs: Just a thought. Nice gallery!

:-) Lauren Noyes replies: "Thank you for perusing my gallery and leaving such a nice comment. =)"
