What is it with jerboas and wanting to be nude? This one I actually got to cover up but not entirely. Decent enough for what I need her to do but I think there must be something about them that just makes them fight the whole concept of clothing.

Yaaaay the first one!!! Do you use human models for your work??? It looks so.. if you do you are a hell of a lot better than I ever did in figure drawing class

:-) Lynn A. Davis replies: "Sometimes I use reference photos but it's so hard to find good references for human bodies (particularly those that are 'less than perfect' which are the ones I need most). For this particular image I didn't use references, it's straight from my mind to the paper through the less that perfect talent of my hand. *grin* I tend to use references more for the animal portions of my drawings."

just truly curious..what is the point of this artwork? I have been an illustrator for years, and I can't quite get this or why it has a web site? Am I missing something here?

:-) Lynn A. Davis replies: "What is the point of any artwork not produced to satisfy some commercial venture? Why shouldn't it have a webpage? Yes, you are probably missing something.

And it has two webpages, one here in Elfwood and one in my own personal website."

Um cross eyed?

:-) Lynn A. Davis replies: "It happens. Not all people are perfect, why should all furries be so? Whether it was intentional or not I leave to the viewer to ponder. "

im no art critic, but i have to agree with Mc Beth here.
art is a form of EXPRESSION. if you wish to sell it for money, so be it; its your decision. why people draw this KIND of art is to escape the STATUS QUO of art that goes around out there as well as the status quo of our lives. we need to get away from REALITY. this helps us do just that. ARTWOKD OF PLAIN HUMANS JUST ISN'T ENOUGH TO GET US AWAY FROM REALITY ANYMORE!!!
think about Diego Rivera. Now HE was a controversial artist. he did MURALS. he believed art should be available to public. His art and this art AND ALL OTHER FORMS OF DRAWINGS share one common trait: ALL ARE USED TO EXPRESS INNER FEELINGS AND EXPRESSIONS THAT WE CANNOT ALWAYS OR DO NOT ALWAYS WANT TO GET OUT INTO PUBLIC. This is the latest form of controversial art.
as for this comment: "...I can't quite get this or why it has a web site?" i have explained why we do it. as for why it has a web site, i have to say this: WHY NOT??? HOW MANY OTHER WEBSITES OUT THERE HAVE ART SIMILAR TO THIS WITH JUST HUMANS? HUH?! sure there are some adult themes involved in some of these pieces BUT NOT ALL THE ANIMAL/HUMAN PIECES have adult content. im not trying to accuse you of critisizing the adult themes presented in a few of these, but im just trying to justify the human/animal fusion artwork. ITS ART!!! if it wont fly in public, then WHY NOT THE INTERNET?!

your honor, i rest my case.

leslee, if you have to ask what is the poit of artistic expression you're not only missing something, you're missing the essencial.
Great gallery!
