| 23 Dec 2005 | Tracey | Loading...It's great!!! (love cats). So what's with the cross, pentacle and triple moon??? Just a question. Got me curious is all. Lynn A. Davis replies: "Most people are familiar with the pentacle as a protective symbol that in corporates the four elements (earth, air, water, fire) with fifth element of spirit. But it was also a symbol associated with Venus, which is both the morning and evening star and was thus associated with both the sun and moon through the goddesses associated with those stars.
The triple moon is obviously an association to the moon and, usually with modern neo-pagans, a moon goddess.
The cross was originally equal-armed and associated with the sun and, depending on culture, a sun god or goddess.
So wearing all three at once isn't that contradictory since it boils down to wearing the sun, moon, and a symbol that combines the two into what is, essentially, a symbol for unity and the bond between spirit and earth." | |
