I would very much like to know (chapter and verse) where you found that. I've never seen it anywhere in the bible. Phil M. Hickey replies: "Busted. What I was incorrectly referring to was Exodus 1:11-14, where their work on building cities was mentioned. I guess what I had in mind at the time of the comment was how all of the Biblical epics I have seen always seem to show the Hebrews working on something that looks vaguely like a pyramid, as a Charlton Heston type looks somewhat constipated (I know the expression is meant to show an empathy for suffering, but acting is difficult work)."

I found Larry's additude presumptuous. Chapter and verse, chapter and verse it galls me to no end the tone of his scribble. If this were not a public forum I would use the more colorful words I so frequently use and are my crutch when speaking. Sorry but I really found his post offensive. Any way hey Phil Phil M. Hickey replies: "Hi Phil, Sorry it took so long to get back to you, but one of my partners just got married, and also I have had a few gigs (and lots of practices) and I have been flaking all over the place. Anyway, the guy was actually right, about the pyramid thing, so yes, it may be pedantic of him, which can be a pain in the keister, but he WAS right, after all. Ah, no worries. I hope all is well for you, and say hello for me. Ciao. "
| 25 Sep 2004 | Phil | Loading...Hey, I just thought I would drop you a line. How are things going? have you got any new stories in the works, when you going to be back in the states? any way hope all goes well. Phil Phil M. Hickey replies: "Hey, Phil:Yeah, I'm working on a few stories, but it's all a bit back seat to some of the music stuff and bookstore work right now. As to back in the states... Probably not until next year. I got my request for an absentee ballot sent off yesterday. Hopefully by the time I'm back that SOB Bush will be out." | |
| 29 Sep 2004 | Jennifer A. Hofmeister | Loading...Jeez, I really have to give myself a kick - I still haven't been in your bookstore yet! But it looks so nice on the website. It's just a rather long way for me, I live down south (Rudow - find it on the map!), but I'll get my driver's license very soon. One of these days, I promise I'll step into your store! Phil M. Hickey replies: "Oh, come on! It's not as if you are in Dresden, or something. What about the U7- that goes down to Rudow, doesn't it? Seriously, we plan to be here for some time yet, so there isn't any need for urgency. I guess I must confess to a bit of curiosity, however, never having met a real ElfWood person before. I have long been tempted to imagine them as being somewhat like faries, but somewhat bigger." | |
| 22 Oct 2004 | J. E. Schroeder | Loading...Hi there! I was just looking over some of my older comments, and saw one that you had left me awhile back. Now, I got to thinking... Did I ever return the favor? I don't think I did. In any case, I'll try to get over here and check out some of your work this weekend. Sorry for the long delay in working my way over here! In the meantime, happy writing Phil M. Hickey replies: "Thank you for your courtesy. I hope that you enjoy what you read." | |
| 30 Nov 2004 | Phil | Loading...Hey, I haven't spoke with you in a while so I thought I'd drop you a line on the Public forum. Thanksgiving was nice, but Christmas is around the corner and the youngsters are getting restless. Kids have such cooler toys now then when we were that age any way have a good holiday wintery cold season-Phil by the way it's 70 degrees here. Phil M. Hickey replies: "Hi Phil,Sorry for replying so late. I've been deluged by work at the bookstore lately... although in view of recent geological events in SE Asia, perhaps that is a poor choice of words. I hope Xmas was good for you and your family." | |
| 19 Dec 2004 | James K. Bowers | Loading...***points above to Sept 29th comment*** Jennifer should feel blessed that she lives so near... There's nothing I like better than a library or a bookstore - well, almost nothing... Just wandering through and thought I'd stop to say hello... BTW, don't you think that being part-owner of a bookstore gives you an unfair advantage when composing a "favorite authors" blurb for your bio section? Even so, I'm surprised Neil Gaiman didn't appear in the list... Oh, well - gotta run... I'll be back later on to read... Phil M. Hickey replies: "Sorry, I hadn't really read much by Mr. Gaiman at that point, although I have since, and liked "American Gods" very much. Well, if having a bookstore is an unfair advantage, all I can say is that it is a lot of work for such a slender advantage. In any event, I have a few ideas for some new stuff, and hopefully I can get something in for your next round. I have been dreadfully busy, but now that Christmas is over, I should have some time. Gutes Rutsch." | |
| 24 Dec 2004 | Larry N. Morris | Loading...So, we meet again, Phil. I just wanted to stop in and say, congratulations for being selected Writer of the Day. Come leave your footprints on my own little Wyvern shelf sometime . . . and, happy holidays. Phil M. Hickey replies: "Thank you for stopping by, and I am glad I am not being called to task for an error, this time around. I will try to stop by, as I should have a little more time now." | |
| 24 Dec 2004 | Jamie A. Hughes | Loading...Congrats on the "author o the day" honor. Glad to have you in Elfwood!! Phil M. Hickey replies: "Thank you very much, but I didn't even know about it until just now. *sigh* I was off in France with my new girlfriend, being stuffed full of good Alsace cooking by all of her numerous relatives. Life is suffering, as the Buddhists say..." | |
| 27 Jan 2007 | Enoch T. Moore | Loading...Hello Phil, I have only read your "Scene from a Dying World" piece and I really liked it. I have always been a fan of post apocalyptic scenarios. I enjoyed this one very much. Somewhat like the movie "Time Machine" or something much like that. At the moment I only have a few pieces up in my art gallery, but I am working on some pieces to put up in my Library. | |
