Hanna Lehmusto

Hanna is a finn, deeply in love with watercolor and Tolkien´s books.

I'm a finnish girl born in 1980, living in Turku (Åbo in swedish), and like most of the artists here, I too have drawn since I was able to hold a pen. Fantasy art, though, hasn´t been my number one interest that long, I discovered the world of fantasy only somewhat eight years ago when I read the Lord of The Rings. I fell in love with it (surprise, surprise...) and combined two of my favourite hobbies- fantasy books and drawing. Like I said, my 'first (and by far the deepest) love' was J. R. R Tolkien but occasionally an inspiration of drawing something from some other books hits me or I´ll just draw by my own ideas... So, back to the subject, I try to capture feelings in my drawings and concentrate to the persons. You tell me how I have succeed, I know my pics are quite far from perfect, but I´m trying hard to improve... Too bad that the situation now is that my job seriously disturbs my hobbies (*g*) and I don't have enough time to paint as much as I would like to. *sigh.* Anyway, I have a homepage too, with also older pictures which I´ve deleted from here, and even some new ones, and better scans -of course- of the pics visible in here. Visit there, but don´t be frightened -by far it´s in finnish only. The english version is going to be finished, someday... :o)

I commend you on your excellent work. I should like to see more of your art in the future.

Very much like your LOTR work especially Elentari and the water spirit one (d'oh forgotten her name, sorry!). Occasionally, the lack of anatomical realism/proportion lets down your otherwise stunning work, but everyone improves with practise 1 VERY much admire your watercolour skill, would love to be as good as you in watervolour (*pouts at her own lack of skill*) Keep it up please!

Just have to say that your artwork is stunning. I have no idea how to draw anything with watercolors and you're really talented. I like many of your backgrounds and the knots are very nice 2 Oikein hienoja töitä, en voi muuta sanoa.

~ I just wanted to say i really enjoy looking at your gallery, its inspiring. Lately i have been looking at every one who does cell-art and I felt foolish for some of my art in comparison, but your art is just as good and you use the same materials that i do, so i dont feel like i have to be like them any more, i can just be my self. Thank you for sharing the art. ~ shani
ps. have you ever drawln Silk, from David Eddings' books? Your style is perfect for the job, and i havent seen a suitable drawling of him yet ( I have high standards, he is one of my favorite characters)

I guess you enjoyed The Silmarilion (sp?). did you like it more or less than the lord of the rings tri? i don't see many charecters from those, but lots from silmarilion

:-) Hanna Lehmusto replies: "A tough one 2 More or less.. That's difficult to say for those two books are so different. The Silmarillion contains so many wonderful tales (and I love the language in The Sil!), when compared to LOTR which is more like whole, a single tale -not to even mention that I did read LOTR first, without it I doubt that I would've found other Tolkien's writings..."
