He knew it would not last long, this moment. It was as fleeting as the first winter's snow. Words could not form, caught frozen in his throat ensnared by a sudden moment of doubt. Was this reality? Was that really her, the specter which always seemed to just escape his grasp, within his arms?

Whew, this was a lot of coloring, I spent about 6 hours total on this piece. 2 devoted to inking, 2 more to base color, and the last two to detailing. I am very happy with it though, especially his skin. I am so afraid to try and add a background, but it really needs one. I'm thinking her name is Shelinda and his... Wurgoth? I'm not that great with high fantasy names.

Created on vellum Bristol, 9" x 12" in size and filling up as much of the sheet as shown in the scan. Inked in micron pen and then colored in gray scale marker first to establish values. Next came base color, then details like the leather texture added in using the colorless blender and colored pencil. Skin detail was created using marker and colored pencil dots with colored pencil high lights. The design on her gown was created with colored pencils over the marker base. The blending was all done with using the markers together, no colorless blender because it bleaches out the color when used. All in all, a lot of hard work that really paid off.

I like the names Shelinda and Wurgoth. By the way, when I was a little boy the odds were against me living long enough to give you that compliment tonight.

:-) Tamera Leonid Gardner replies: "Oh no, why was that?"

Very nice drawing. I think all the attention to detail really paid off. I especially love Shelinda’s freckles and the subtle detail work on her dress (both jewellery and the intricate patterns on the darker blue part). Your way of colouring hair also looks very natural. The pose looks very sweet and I love the sad look in his eyes, it matches the text perfectly. Keep up the great work.

:-) Tamera Leonid Gardner replies: "Thank you for the great compliment, I really took my time on this piece."

Because I experienced a lot of deadly things like killer dogs, a car accident, choking, and nearly drowning.

:-) Tamera Leonid Gardner replies: "Sounds like a rather eventful life!"

A nice interpretation of the classical "The Beauty and the Beast" topic. If you allow criticism... her transparent cape-thingie looks a little stiff, if it’s made of silk or something. But on the other hand I like the pattering of the clothes and the skins. I want to point out the leather-texture is very well done.

:-) Tamera Leonid Gardner replies: "I adore critiques, thank you for pointing out the stiffness of her shawl. I wasn’t too sure about how to go about coloring a transparent cloth so I used colored pencil and the result was.... so-so."

I love her hair~
