"A Night´s Conquer - One" by Carly ´Lhena´ Silverton

He was draped across his chair, moaning while he clutched his stomach. His mouth wide open, while his eyes held the TV screen’s glare in his blank gaze. His hair was tousled against the wall, while his body was laid out limply. Yet, at the first creak of a door he would shake out of it and grip at the armrest-less chair.

The boy heard the creaking of his bedroom door, then the soft steps of his cat whom was unmistakably walking towards the boy to snuggle into his lap. Just a few feet into the room, the cat hissed when the boy released his grip on the chair to get out of it enough and turn around to face the cat, then hiss at it. The cat barely moved, but it did take a step back.

The boy’s voice could be heard echoing the downstairs, “ Get out of here Smokey!”

The cat looked up at him, then turned around and ran out of the room in the only way a cat runs - prancing.

Alec relaxed back into his chair. Just before the cat had come in he’d called the girl. She would know what was wrong with him. He’d been sick for the past two days, sleeping whenever possible, then puking his guts out when he was awake. The second day of it he’d been taken over by shivers, fever, and an extremely weak body barely able to move in dead. However, today he’d woken up feeling perfectly fine. He had been able to climb out of his many covers that always seemed to try and keep him in bed, then go to his chair and start playing his Xbox.

It hadn’t been until breakfast smells had wafted down to his bedroom that he’d started to feel weird, but odd in a different way than the past two days. Since he first became sick, just the thought of food had put him off, but now his stomach seemed to have a mind of its own. The smells of bacon and eggs drove Alec crazy, even though he had never enjoyed bacon before.

Yet, when the breakfast smells passed, Alec still was driven mad by his hunger. But now it was a deeper hunger, something he didn’t think he could satisfy with just one meal. Alec tried to distract himself from it, hoping the hunger would go away when it fed off his body fat reserves for a bit. But it had been an hour since breakfast and it was still as strong as ever. That had been the time for him to call her.
