When Alec finally released her, she put her hand to his chest and pulled her head back to look into his eyes. They were not just feral, animalistic things; now they were alive but with that ever lasting thirst - masked only slightly by the amount of love and care replacing some of his instincts, keeping him human. Those eyes buried into hers’ and consumed her heart and mind. She had already begun to submit to him, but the compulsive look Alec gave her made sure she wouldn’t change her mind.

Before she fully let herself go, she let her voice trail through the air to breathe the last few words she might speak. “Alec, I love you. I want to help you however I can. I just want you to know that. I’ll do anything for you.”

She had seen his mouth open and close several times, trying to get a word in. But she had pushed on so to get out the last words her voice box might be allowed to verbalize. When her speech had ended, she watched as her words sunk into Alec fully. Saw the confusion, then anger and fear, then compassion and fear in his eyes.

“You won’t have to worry. I won’t hurt you. I love you too much to hurt you,” Alec said.

“Then why the fear?”

Alec sighed, then let his voice follow the path of reason to explain to his love. “I love you so much. I fear you absolutely mean what you say, that I’ll give in to your wish to keep me alive by giving yourself up. I fear that my love will not be enough to save you.”

“You don’t need to be scared, Alec. I love you truly. I will give my life for your’s. I know you would never purposefully hurt me. But this won’t hurt. We both know it won’t hurt. It can’t, because you never even noticed the who, what, when, where and why of your bite.”

She pressed on, “Alec, I have faith in you. If I didn’t I would still offer up my blood to you. I will exchange anything of myself for you. Even if I doubted you’d keep me alive, if I were going to die in this, I wouldn’t fear for my life. Because I’m ready to give up my most precise of things for you. I already gave you something I could never have again, why not give you my life too?” The girl added the last sentence in with a joking tone.
