He felt the cold touch and fast beats of her heart as her hand touched his forearm. Hearing her voice, made him dizzy with the sweet smell of natural lavender deodorant and sweat from her. He inhaled deeply, enjoying her smell.
“Julian?” she called again. He opened his eyes after a prolonged blink and looked at her beauty. He took in every detail of her pale figure, from the lovely face she held high with her long neck to her small waist and perfect sized chest and even daring to look farther than her mini skirt to see the smooth, exposed flesh of her long legs. He loved what he saw and wanted to take her in with him for a night. His mind no longer thinking “friend”, but instead hormones raged through his blood stream and he grabbed her shoulders, pinning her to the ground, sitting on top her waist. She struggled, but he was too strong and kept her arms pinned together above her head. Suddenly, he woke from his moment as she broke free of his steady grip and slapped him across the face, leaving a hand imprint on his now cherry red cheek. She got up from under him and stood up to shake herself off.

Julian looked completely dazed as he pinned her to the ground, his eyes looking her up and down, a smile on his face. Lhena had never imagined him to do something like this. Her reaction was pure human, but her feral mind screamed POUNCE! him as her hormones roared inside her. The anger of her feral self had given her enough human strength just to push him off her, yet her feelings for him were stronger now that he was definitely wolf, yet it didn’t change a thing. She had to help him through this and she couldn’t do that if she was under him all night.
“I’m sorry Julian. We need to figure out why Selene Graced you. She never does things without reason.”
Although her heart screamed for him, for their relationship had become more than just friends some time ago. She knew her virginity was something too pure to give away at a time like this.
“No, it’s fine,” he said, rubbing his sore cheek, “I don’t know what came over me; I don’t think I have ever done something so…”
“I know,” Lhena replied, trying to forget it and get back to talking about her original intent for coming. “Julian, what happened to your arm?”
- -- -
Julian heard her voice say she wasn‘t ready, but never saw her face as a tear rolled down. When his ears picked up and he listened to her talking about the smell, he flipped out.
“I never meant harm-”Julian tried to explain ferociously, but was cut off.
“I know, but I need to know what happened?”
“No, I don‘t…I don‘t remember,” he struggled to find the words.
“Yes, you do. Now tell me what happened-”
- -- -
“I don‘t remember!” Julian bellowed. Lhena froze at his voice. He had never yelled at her like that. She had to remember that he was a new Cub and if their mood changed, it could be bad for anyone around him.
“Julian, you must remember at least when it happened.”
“It was a week ago, here in this clearing,” he responded. She knew he remembered more than that, but wasn’t sure how far to push him for information.
“Where in this clearing, what time? Julian I need to know more if I am going to help you.”
“How could you help me? How can anyone help me unless they could get rid of this…this…curse?”
“Julian, this is no curse. This is a gift bestowed to very few, even if by accident.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Never mind, just tell me anything you remember of what happened, please,” she begged.
“Alright, it was here, the Dark Place, I was just sitting here, thinking about what I had said to Mom. It was night and we had just had a fight an hour ago. I was about to get up and leave to go to Jake’s when I heard a branch break and fall to the ground. I kinda freaked and just froze. About a minute later, the echo of the sound went away and I got up and was walking out of here when I noticed a black wolf about 20 yards away, right in front of me, just staring. I stood there and stared back at it.”
“You just stood up and was about to leave the clearing when you saw a wolf?”
“No, I had just left the Dark Place and about one foot from it when I noticed the wolf,” Julian corrected.
“So, you never saw the wolf before then?”
“No, but I heard it. When I came out of the Dark Place I saw the branch, I’d heard before, on the ground, which was about a yard away from the wolf. It was big too, big and black. I didn‘t know what to do, so I just stood there. I looked up at the sky for a moment and I guess the wolf did too, because when I looked back at it its head moved back down just after mine. I heard a rustle in the bushes and before I knew it, the wolf had pounced on me and let out a howl. I put my arms up to block it and I guess it worked because instead of biting my neck or something, it got a mouthful of arm,” Julian put in the last bit with a hint of sarcasm in his voice, to lighten the mood he’d created.
“The wolf attacked you, just like that?” Lhena croaked with astonishment, “wolves don’t attack for no reason.” Not good, another Wolf must be near. They should no better than to come to His territory.
“But then what could it be?” Julian remarked.
“The only thing it could be, one of us,” Lhena answered.
“What do you mean by us? I’m not a…a…”
“Don’t deny now, why don’t you. Yes you’re one of us. You’re a wolf.”
“Then what are we, exactly?” Julian retorted.
“Well, Wolves, like wolves wolves. Basically, the pure form of what movies call Werewolves, but there’s a huge difference between our species and werewolves.”
At that Julian again froze, mouth agape, eyes glazed over, looking straight through their direction.
Julian didn’t hear her after the first time Werewolf was spoken. His mind was still trying to get around the word. Lhena silenced herself, when she noticed he didn’t react to her and just cuddled up to him, holding onto his arm for support after speaking words that she never should have had to say to anyone in this place.
For several moments Julian’s mind turned over the words Lhena had just spoken, not even contemplating the meaning of it. He just tried to get past that last word, “werewolf”.
- -- -
No wolves ever lived in towns like this, Lhena was an exception. A Wolf had come one day and given and taken from her. Not only had he stolen her innocence that humans took for granted about the world of wolves. He had also, given her such power that was hers’ to control. Lhena liked this power; it was the only important and meaningful thing she was able to control in her life.
Julian stirred while Lhena thought back on the one that brought her into this new world. He flipped his head back and looked down at Lhena, her eyes like his only moments ago, lost in the past.
- -- -
Julian woke from his daydream and looked down at Lhena until she came about and looked back at him. He saw her mouth open as she started to talk again, but he silenced her with a fiery kiss, something he hadn’t had the courage to do before. She took it in and allowed for several minutes of her relationship with him to be pure pleasure. Then they came up for air and smiled at each other, both storing that newly created memory in their hearts forever, as a flush in their cheeks rose to the surface.
- -- -
Never knowing Julian to be so bold she had been so caught up by his kiss; she couldn’t stop herself and just let the time tick by as her love for him grew. As she broke the surface first, her breath caught in her throat as warmth washed through her in newly created joy. She held onto the feeling for as long as possible and until it faded away. But suddenly, Julian smashed this perfect moment and asked the daunting question that had been in head since her mentioning of both their species and werewolves.
“Wait, so werewolves are real, but we’re not Werewolves?”
