I've altared and fixed a little. Though my Dad told me you shouldn't make changes to poetry incase it defeats the purpose. I can't help it. So this poem is about a late night Tarot reading, and the depth of our imaginations...

She was scared to spread the cards; she did not wish to see

The empty shell she knew she was, the ghost she’d come to be

And she was scared to walk away from what she did not know

She did not know the cure to take, the way that she should go

It took an age to choose a card, to deal a hand of fate

And when the chosen one was laid, still she chose to wait

Eternity had passed before she turned and faced the scene

A Dragon staring back at her, a card she’d never seen

A painting drawn by faery queens and coloured by the gods

A scene of woven detail, a story full of cause

She ran her fingers over it; it called out to her soul

And as she stared into its depth her life became the toll

She woke inside the painting, but with the dragon gone

He had sought her light you see, her essence drove him on

When she had given up her dreams and from the cards sought aid

He knew he had to have her soul, before the light could fade

He came to her by candlelight, when the sun had hid away

He did not care for blue skies and so he slept by day

He took her light and bound her fast, he threw her behind bars

The price for doubting beauty is to lose the moon and stars

He brought her out to gaze on her, a piece of mortal art

She thought he was a monster, she cursed his blackened heart

She hated him with passion, until she saw his tears

Until the silence dawned on her and she listened to his fears

A mortal hand could capture him, and bind him in the dark

For when they turned away from dreams and made their wishes stark

They bound a new born dragon and kept him locked from sight

He told her of the power that lay within a mortal’s light

So never bind your wishes and never try to be

Less than all your fantasies, less than what you dream

Never doubt the beauty that lies beyond your fears

Never be the cause of dark and burning Dragon tears
