| A Poem I wrote for teaching a class of 11 year olds a poetry lesson. They each wrote their own poems and I took a copy of each. They are so cute. |

In a place in my mind where all the stars gather
A place never visited by mother and father
A place where all fairytales are real and are true
Sits a wooden treasure chest on a mat of velvet blue
I go to the chest and kneel down by the lock
And take out my key made from crystal rock
The key gives a click as I turn it to open
And the silence inside is finally broken
With a ‘whoosh’ and a ‘twinkle’ gold lights brightly flare
Laughter and Music is suddenly there
The box gives a rattle and glitter rains down
I wonder in awe, what is this I have found?
A girl stands before me, her face is petal pale
She is tall and wisplike, looking very frail
But what is fantastical, is that coming from her back
Are wings of changing colours: purple, blue and black.
Together with this fairy, I discover sights so rare
We ride on snow white unicorns and play in magic Fairs
We watch a massive moon rise upon a purple sky
And lie beside the roaring sea and give contented sighs
The time comes to go, and we hug and say goodbye
We’ve grown quite attached, but we don’t need to cry
You see, she lives in the ‘box’ world, a key turn away
And when I am lonely I come here to play
