Drawn july 2002

I had this image of a very ugly, skinny humanoid in my head and just started drawing. This was the first time I seriously tried a detailed portrait, so I encountered a lot of new difficulties. The expression on his face is my interpretation of someone 'eyeballing' another.

I like this one. It reminds me a bit of the orcs from LoTR.

Haha *starts the irish jig and blends smoothly into the reggae wine ...weeks of practice pays off* Nice drawing man!! I like that sketch...the guy looks so funny. It's the kind of extreme eyeballin you expect to see in some pirate comedy. Good job on his expression and feautures!!

Oh, fantastic! The expression on his face is perfect. You should darken upthe picture a bit.. get some hightlights and shadows in there. It'd be awesome!

This is amazing! Your detail and shading are wonderful! The expression isn't wooden but it looks fluid and natural. Bravo and Kudos! You could SO winn moderator's choice w/ this! Have you tried coloring it?

I really like his face, and I think you did an excellent job on the shading. I find his jaw a bit thin, but that's my own personal preference showing through. This is an excellent work. You should keep doing the portraits.

I think you place your shadow well... have confidence in that, and make them even darker! What pencil do you use?

:-) Lieuwe Boer replies: "I used a 2B pencil for almost all drawings here, and in some cases even a softer one. Still I agree that the shading doesn't come out too well on most drawings here. I feel I have gained more confidence and knowledge about shading though (most drawings here are at least 4 months old), and hopefully that will show in my upcoming update."

I'm so sorry, Mr Orc! I promise never to do it again! Spare me!!! Please?!

:-) Lieuwe Boer replies: ""Ooy!! What did you call me? I'm a goblin for cryin' out loud!""
