Just like the elves have the Drow as their evil cousins, the dwarves have the Duergar. The Duergar are a rather pitiful lot though: banished to extreme depths underground, where they scheme with traditional dwarven enemies like the orcs, goblins and drow. They appear to be rather skinny compared to other dwarves, and their craftsmanship with stones and metal is inferior. Plus they are bald and generally very ugly. But it's their cruelty that will make you decide to turn around and run when you happen to meet one in a dark alley (which is highly unlikely).
Here depicted are a veteran warrior and a cruel bandit type, both drawn for the Shivers LARP site.

Not exactly the first profession I would think of when making a dwarf, but anyhow, it`s a great pic, they do look like duergar, though you shoulda given em a lil tan.. Lieuwe Boer replies: "Yep, you're right, duergar have a dark tan, and I completely forgot about that. But did you know that dwarven thieves are excellent lockpicks and trap spotters? On top of that, duergar are very good at hiding."

I have to disagree w/ Harald though, Dwarf theives would be quite successful, good with traps and locks, plus depending on the system you’re using Duergar can use invisibility. And I thought they were supposed to be pale i.e. not tan.
