I tend to rush as well as cramming in details, but seldom to this degree of photo-sharpness or clarity. Great job. Lieuwe Boer replies: "The difference between messy details and photo-sharpness often depends on proper use of an eraser and a sharp pencil for the finishing touch. And a bit of patience. Thanks for stopping by again, I appreciate it a lot " | |
| 23 Feb 2003 | Tamara A. Havik | Loading...Hi! I don't know the story, but the character looks great. The only thing I think isn't quite right, is his right hand that's holding his sword. It doesn't look right, like the sword should fall from his hand. The handle also seems a bit thin compared to the length of the sword. That was my attempt at "opbouwende kritiek" now for the flattery: the clothing of your pictures are really nice! | |
| 8 Apr 2003 | Jon G. 'Bretwalda' Malek | Loading...Hey Lieuwe, You know how I feel about this picture, but what they heck! I love the detail you've portrayed him in...I especially like the armour and the breastplate with the Cross of Ixranyeth on there. Simply great! fyi I'm having severe issues with my computer, which is why I haven't been in contact with you lately (feel free to delete that part of the message lol) I'm looking very forward to seeing Koular and Blue heh And, to let you know, I'm working on another short story that I think is fairly decent. Take care | |
| 14 Apr 2003 | Renate Ingebrigtsen | Loading...LOOOOOOOvE the expression! And costume as usual. **envy your talent for costumes** Where have you picked up all the different armour and stuff? Only RP? or have you found some book about it and studied it? Lieuwe Boer replies: "Glad you like it. I look to all kinds of things for costumes. I look in books from the library, movies, or at other fantasy artwork. I take a little bit of this and a little bit of that and put it together. I prefer not to copy things literally though. Khalan's costume here is partially inspired by Gladiator (the fur cape), and partially by The 13th Warrior (the breastplate). So researching and looking for reference is a significant part of my way of working." | |

| 20 Jun 2003 | Harald Lognvik | Loading...Though this is my favorite of yours, I have to agree with Mr. Annonymous here, his arms do look a lil rubbery. And if I`m to be really annoying, his hands coulda been a lil bigger. A sword is heavy you know, especially one of that size Lieuwe Boer replies: "I always blamed the 'rubbery' arms on the way the chainmail falls, but I understand that there's more to it than that. And I agree that Khalan's grip on the sword is a little too light, as if the sword is fiberglass or something. But I'm happy to hear that he's your favorite nevertheless." | |
| 20 Jul 2003 | Tzann | Loading...Nice pic, real But i must say.. the armor looks a bit like the armor from Buliwyf/The 1st Warrior from the film "the 13th warrior" http://i.imdb.com/Photos/Ss/0120657/AU28_2_23.jpg <-- on the right. Lieuwe Boer replies: "Yes, like I explain in reply to Renate's comment, I took the basic design of the breastplate from The 13th Warrior. I suppose you must be a fan then, just like me I loved the adventurous feel of that movie. Thanks for visiting!" | |
| 16 Oct 2003 | Keyl | Loading...Wow this is a really nice picture ........But why does it look like mcbeth ??????? Lol yur a great artist an i admire you keep it up Lieuwe Boer replies: "I have no idea what McBeth looks like, so I'm afraid I can't answer that question. Thanks anyway " | |
| 11 Jun 2008 | Sy Maniac Sun | Loading...I think you could try to add muscle detail on the arms to prevent the rubberyness
Nice fur texture, btw | |
