In a country far, far away, where elves and pixies and dragons still dwell in the beautiful forests, stands a large white tower with a golden roof. The tower is guarded by a large blue dragon, who likes to eat anyone or anything that tries to harm him, or the persons who live in the tower. For in the tower live two beautiful girls, named Sara and Marie. There hasn't been a month in which no prince has tried to ask one of the girls to marry him.
Sara used to live in a very big castle. There were lots of towers, some of them could only be reached through hidden doors. There were a few of which only Sara and her servant and only friend at the castle, Marie knew about. Marie was just a little older than Sara. They liked to sit there and have tea, while telling stories to each other.
Sara used to be very happy living in the castle until her mother passed away. Even though her father, the king, gave her everything she wanted, and she still had Marie, she missed her mother. After three years, she started to feel a little better, and her father started making plans behind Sara's back.
Sara's father had changed a lot after the queen had passed away. He would become angry with people for very stupid reasons. For example, when a servant accidentally dropped a plate on the floor, the king would have him locked up in a dungeon. The queen used to make sure that the king was friendly to everyone, so people would be happy living under the rule of the king. But now hardly anybody liked him. In fact, he didn't even have any friends. Only one person would sometimes have dinner with the king, and talk to him, but not because the king was lonely. This person, the prince of one of the countries surrounding the king's country just wanted the king to like him, so he could eventually marry Sara. Of course Sara's father agreed. Sara was 15 already so she should be getting married soon or she would never find herself a man. Her father knew Sara wouldn't agree, so he decided to keep her in the castle until the big day. He would find a way to force her to say yes. He placed extra guards close to her room, and told Marie that she had to make sure Sara would stay in the castle.
The king knew his daughter well enough to know that she never wanted to get married, but unfortunately he hadn't paid attention to the fact, that Marie was her best friend. Of course Marie told Sara, and she had also already thought of a plan to escape.
One night, when the prince was having dinner with her father, Sara pretended to be sick and went to her room early. Marie had given Sara a very long piece of rope and some food to make sure Sara would reach a village far enough from the castle to start a new life. Marie would also go to that village, a couple of weeks later, so her father couldn't find out where Sara went. Sara tied the rope to her bed and started climbing down. But climbing was heavier than she thought, and she had not enough grip so she fell down.
A blue dragon was tired of sitting in front of his castle. He was tired of being alone, ever since his best friend was killed by some idiotic creature that called himself a "knight", and that tasted awfully bad. He was tired of being only visited by stupid canned humans who tried to kill him. He flew off to search for someone he could be friends with. He didn't know any other dragons and he didn't know if there were even any other living dragons left on this planet, so it had to be something or someone just as intelligent as him. He had been flying for half a day when he saw some human fall out of a window. When he looked closer, he saw it was a pretty girl, with an expensive dress, and very long blonde hair. He made her float for a few seconds until he was close enough to catch her.
"Hi!", the dragon said.
"Hello..." Sara said.
She wanted to say thank you or something, but words wouldn't come out. Of course she was really scared, because she thought she was going to die when she fell out of the window. But now she was sitting on a real dragon. A big one. And since in stories she heard, dragons were usually scary creatures that killed humans, it wasn't that strange, that Sara was afraid of the dragon.
"My name is Ghraaaaargh." the dragon said.
"I'm Sara."
When Sara noticed that Ghraaaaargh wanted to land in the garden, she told him to keep flying.
"Why? Aren't you happy there? It seems like you're very rich and you surely can get everything you want."
"Are you blind? I was trying to escape. I hate it there! My dad is an impossible person to live with. Everyone hates him. And he's trying to force me to get married to some arrogant, ugly prince!"
"Oh, I see." the dragon said, while he started flying into a different direction.
"Where are we going?"
"We're going to my tower" Ghraaaaargh answered.
"A tower? Does that mean I'm kidnapped or something?"
"No" Ghraaaaargh said. "You can go away whenever you like."
Sara looked at the tower. It looked very pretty. It was all white with a golden roof.
"It's beautiful," Sara said "but how can you ever fit in?"
"I can't, but I don't mind. You can live there, if you want to. I've been very lonely, because there's nobody who wants to talk to me. Everybody is scared of me and if they're not they want to kill me."
"I would love to live here!" Sara said. "Can my friend Marie also live here? She is still working at the castle, but I want her to be able to live somewhere where she can be happy too."
"Of course. We can fly back some time to get her too."

When Sara's father found out his daughter was missing he went searching for her. Nobody ever saw him again and for some reason nobody missed him. The day he went searching for Sara the dragon ate a canned human with a strange pointy golden thing on his head. It didn't taste too good, and the dragon was a little noxious from eating the snack.
Sara was very happy living in the tower. She wasn't forced to marry anyone she didn't like and she had made a new friend. Marie also liked Ghraaaaargh, and the three of them had a lot of fun, flying around and scaring so-called "knights" who tried to "rescue" the girls from the tower.
