this is a poem, one i did this when i was having one of those deep, hard moments, thinking about how much we have done to our world.....---- The wolf is fading, its soul is wailing; its world has been choken its life has been broken. It was all a matter of time before the wolf only existed in human mind, only a creature of fables and tails to be sung on mountain trails: For as the humans traveled, they slowly unraveled, the web of life, and in its torn threads many creatures lay dead. The wolf bays, at the moon, as the last tree sways, in the winds swoon. He wines as he dines on his last meal, as his fate is sealed, he is now the last of is kin; as it was a fight they could never win. The spirit of the wolf became so few and they surly knew that they never can overpower the greed of man. His eye trails up to the sky as he begins to cry, the last breath of life, the end of his blithe, he too can now join clan, his kin, as it was a fight they could never win. And now that man has realized that they never can lay an eye on a wolf again, it is their turn to cry, as they were the ones to cause them to die, and never did honestly try, or ask themselves why. So now the wolf joins so many more, the gorilla, the dolphin, the bore, the tiger hunted for its skin along with others of its kin, the elephant for its tusk, so many creatures turned to dust, so many that had our trust, we just never bothered, so many ways to kill, even not at our own will, the filth in our water, the loss of land, the death of trees, the smoke in our air, we never really did care…... The wolf lied down in the snow, and the creatures watched him as they know…and so his body died…so many creatures cried at his death, as he heaved his last breath. His broken body lay listless in the snow, only now free of pain…But forever on the wolfs spirit will remain, wild and untamed, as the wolfs body may have been made to die but now its spirit is free to fly. It shall remain, set apart from us yet still a part of us, it will wait for a day when the rain runs clear, when the new world is near, and then he will appear…but for now he remains as a creatures who body did die, but for now his wings can caress the livid sky…---------------------- Do not let this story become real, there is so little of our world left untouched, if we do not stop now all will suffer... please, we must not let them die…..

yeah, I agree with the person above me. Great poem, powerful meaning.
2 things:
1) the wing design over the wolf’s eye is done wrong
2) I think that the olf should be just a little more sad. To me, he looks almost happy to be dead.

It’s still really great though.

Hey, Lilleah, I don’t know if you know already, or if this is something you’ve taken care of, but I just saw this picture on deviantart with just a couple of changes made to it that someone was passing off as theirs. They said that the idea was from you, but that the picture was drawn by them. It kind of made me mad, and I don’t know if I’m overreacting or not, but I just thought I should let you know...Great pic, by the way!

That poem was so sad...Sometimes I, too, wonder if humans should just all be killed for what they have done. I can’t even express my hatred toward the stupidity of humanity but at the same time I know not all people are like this ’Joel’ thing. I’m torn between having a human body yet the ideals of an animal. It’s like your true nature is chained forever because society determines right from wrong and being able to survive without technology for a greater period then three seconds in our technologically dependent societies is seen as a sign of insanity.
Human cities are so superficial. If everyone were to move out of a city, nature would easily reclaim it. But for now they are growing much too fast. I came out to the American Midwest fooling myself into believing it was still wild and free. What I finally saw were thousands of acres up for sale so more slipshod, cookie cutter homes could be quickly dropped down and sold. If you see elk they are in small plots with tall fences around them; you see a coyote and it’s dead on the roadside. Highways have cut up the plains and through the mountains. I cry when I see the mountains and mesas in the distance because I fear one day they’ll be more skyscrapers and paper mache buildings. I just want to run from everything humans stand for and just stand on the mountainside and scream. Not many people understand me in this but I don’t care that 2 2=4 or why the sky is blue or plants green. I just want to exist and live life to its fullest everyday.
Wow, I actually feel better after that long rant. Thank you Lilleah for this wonderful picture and poem. I hope the efforts of the people who care for wildlife do not just come to this and that wolves and all other endangered animals will continue to exist.

Very meaningfull. My heart too aches for the evils that man kind has done & is doing to our beautiful planet. I wonder, will there ever be a day when man relizes their wrongs, learn from it & evolve? Thank goodness there are many people out there who do care about nature & are trying to fight to preserve it. Thank you for the wonderful poem & lovely artwork.
