This...picture...took....FOREVER! Well, actually just 2 days but it seemed like forever.
I am thoroughly obsessed with The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (OoT for short) . I have played it more than 14 times and the master quest version of it 3 times. I have also played Majora's Mask but only twice as i do not "love" it. I played both the gameboy Oracle games, they were fun but no big deal. OoT was just so epic, so wonderful. now i have played Wind Waker 3 times, i really, really like it but i do not love it the way i do OoT. i even like the graphics, its stylized and fits the games more comic nature, but i am a Link fangirl and i just cannot drool over a Link with the body proportions of a Ping-Pong ball on a toilet paper tube! the next game, Twilight Princess, looks very promising, they are bringing back OoT style Link and the game looks to have a deep mythic feel, i just hope they make some improvements to the horse before the game comes out, it does not have the same "feel" as Epona from OoT, it seems weak, its legs look wrong and its mane is flat when running, it just seems too plain. my OoT fandom has been renewed as i have stumbled upon a manga (comic book) version, you can read a fan translated version at a site called Zelda Infinite. it explains alot of things that were left open in the game, espcially stuff about Sheik.
now about the picture. the only visual used was my sister on a big exercise ball (my horse substitute, it seems about the right size and shape) so i could get Links pose right as my past horseback riders look awkward. Links outfit is partially an OoT and Twilight Princess crossover and partially invented. the whole thing was done in a mechanical pencil on drawing paper that was too big for the scanner so it had to be done in 3 pieces, i then had the joyless task of piecing them back together...
i was going for a stylized and pretty look and i am pleased with the image as its been a long time since i have done a piece like this. My only complaint would be Epona's tail as it seems a bit overdone, i was going for a Celtic knot look...
