(you people had BETTER believe me when i tell you that i used no visual reference for this what-so-ever! this took a long time to figure out, Epona alone took most of my 3 hour Renaissance art history class to draw!)
Link could hear the cry of battle and knew he must come to aid, he pulled out the Ocarina of Time and played the tune that his faithful horse could hear no matter where she was. When he caught sight of Epona bounding over the hill he gave a shrill whistle; Epona tossed her head to show she understood and instead of slowing down as to come to a stop for Link to mount, Epona kept running at full speed. Link prepared himself for the task ahead and he began running as he kept a good eye on Epona as he was about to attempt a running mount. when she came near he jumped and grabbed the horn of the saddle and used the momentum of himself and his horse to swing his weight onto the saddle. he drew his sword as his chest heaved onto her back and he swung his leg around to seat himself in the saddle as Epona galloped off to the battle ahead.

Link and Epona from the legend of zelda ocarina of time, nintendo 64

My first impression was to laugh. It was just so out of place to see Link on Epona in that position. Then I started looking at the picture closer. You put a LOAD of details into it. It’s GREAT!

I agree with Haninator; it takes a second glance to really appreciate this picture. It’s amazing! I also agree with Zylo - the subtle lines everywhere really add to the actiony moment with style. Personally, I draw horse eyes much differently, but I love the look on Link’s face! xD
