The Doomed Knight, Part 3

The Heroes of the Hidden Realm

"It's about time I show you that I can defeat you, Jace d' Alvarado," Willn claimed. "I shall defeat you with my 'Piercing Star Slash'. On guard."

Jace d' Alvarado stared in disbelief. He knew the stances of 'Piercing Star Slash' as well as Willn Cavori and even knew the way to counter it. He was thinking that Willn might used another stance to attack. Pressing his blade forward, he anticipated an attack from Willn. Willn raised the sword like the usual 'Piercing Star Slash' but with one hand.

Willn dashed towards Jace d' Alvarado with the sword slashing downwards. Jace d' Alvarado was about to bring his sword up to parry the blow when he discover Willn's left hand had gripped the blade away and slashed the sword down Jace's left shoulder. Then he thrust the sword into Jace's left shoulder and slashed the sword upwards cleaving the joint. Then he bring down the sword again disassembling the arm from the torso. Jace d' Alvarado flew back and his right hand was clutching to where the left shoulder once was.

Seeing this, Belmore Organ leaped out of the group surrounding him and thrust at Willn. Willn parried the first blow but unfortunately since Belmore Organ's sword suddenly split into two magically on his both hands, injuring Willn's left shoulder and dashed towards Jace d' Alvarado. However, Willn did not give up due to injuries on his left hand or shoulder. He swinged the sword at Belmore but Belmore managed to teleport away.

The remaining warriors, Karlimax Eldamo, Talesmirk, Fernaskiz intended to escape but only Karlimax Eldamo was able to slip away into the shadows. Talesmirk was beheaded by Akri-Tef, Fernaskiz, was forced to fight Willn Cavori and eventually Fernaskiz was also killed. Even though Willn Cavori was injured both on his left hand and his left shoulder, he was able to take a swipe ripping the body of Fernaskiz into halves.

Jen Marzun quickly brought a roll of cloth to covered the injured areas of the people. Willn Cavori stared at Tanisha Cavori and Turgic Swalves while remaining silent. Everyone did not speak as they fear that they will incur the wrath of Willn Cavori. The only sounds that were heard was the wind blowing and the grass swaying.

"Lord Xyrulgile, you are Willn Cavori?" Cavennah Bowell blurted out at last.

Turgic Swalves stared at Willn Cavori, then started to talk, "Hmph, Willn Cavori, betraying everyone is the thing you want to do?"

"How dare you talk to the lord with no respect!" Lordeon shouted and was about to remove his sword from the scabbard when Willn Cavori raised his right arm to signal him to stop.

"Does it matters you? Turgic Swalves?"

"Brother, what actually happened that day?" Tanisha asked.

Willn Cavori stared at his pendant, then at the flute and walked away solemnly. The rest followed behind leaving Tanisha and Turgic. "Brother!" Tanisha yelled, "Don't you walk away like you did that day without telling me. You never leave me alone. Not even let me suffer from hunger." Tears rolled down her eyes as she screamed.

Willn halted and turned back and looked at them. Tanisha continued, "I remember everything, my brother is the kindest man I've ever known and he is my only kin. I remember how you carried me when you yourself was sick and had not eaten for a week, just because I refused to walk. I know how much my brother dotes me. So don't tell me you've changed. Because my brother will never, will never let his little sister suffer even from walking." She dashed up and held his brother tightly and crying.

"Why, tell me why you left," she begged.

"I did not. Or maybe I did. Similarly, it seemed that I killed Leister Alin yes I did, but I again did not. But Alexi did not die because someone killed her. She committed suicide. I just know something exactly. Those who exerted magical control over me shall bleed upon Stormblade. And that's all I know."

"So that is actually the reason why King Alin IV died and Alexi died during the wedding ceremony," Turgic Swalves asked in disbelief yet somehow he trusted the boy he had taught.

"I failed her. Alexi threathened to kill herself if I do not come back to senses. When she finds that the threat did not work, she thought the real death will. Unfortunately, I should have learnt magic then. Then nothing of that sort would had happened. And because of that I had became a slave of our enemies for 18 years. If Warner Dextus did not break this pendant Alexi gave me, the 'Soul Stone' would had continued to allow my enemies to exert control over me."

While in the northern lands, the situation became very grave.

"Sverg, can you do anything to repair the wound?" Maelstorm Franco asked.

"I'm sorry your Excellency, the answer is 'no'. In event of any death, I could have revive the man but any distortion of bodily parts is very difficult, or almost impossible to achieve. Even then when we could revive the man, it must be immediately. All I can do now is to stop the pain and bleeding, I guess his warrior life ended with that blow," Sverg replied.

"I see. Now we lose another warlord in our wars against the Cadarn Empire. However, the rise of Icy Blazers seemed to be on a good timing. It gives us efficient time to deal with solely two enemies not three. Maybe we can stand a nice victory by allowing Mersimdorn Empire to consume the entire Icy Blazers while we deal with the Cadarn Empire. Then we shall see the 'Eternal Night' fall on them," Maelstorm concluded.

"I'm afraid of that Willn Cavori, milord. Now and then you're concerned about his presence but why not now when he has an army? I'm sure he can prove lethal after looking at Jace's injury. What do you speak of it, Belmore?"

"Willn Cavori? I'll wager my life that he is deadlier than both Mersimdorn and Cadarn added together. His guts, wits, command and his prowess had been witnessed now and then. Our army still fear him. We've lost Fernaskiz and Talesmirk in the attack. And there I see our greatest threat armed with the legendary Stormblade and magic. He had been training and learning magic. Or should I he is still having. Whilst Palendar is good at strategy, Willn is even better."

"I definitely cannot look down on him, Belmore, and I knew it all along. That's why I never believe that he died in the war with Warner Dextus. But however, I feel our little infiltrator can make a big mess with our two immediate enemies. We have a nice secure border from Mersimdorn while Mersimdorn also has that. However our two immediate enemies has to worry about their three neighbours."

"You mean it can buy us time? I see what you mean milord. You wanted the all three to direct their attacks on Icy Blazers? But then why did you choose to call me to wage a war on Cadarn? Oh I understand now. While Icy Blazers is licking their wounds, we will divert our attention on Cadarn because we can avoid confusion? So that means we will not have a heavy war with Icy Blazers then."

"Correct to an extend. Cadarn is too firmly rooted to the ground against us. So we must act quick. But we are not to avoid confusion, I should say create confusion. Obviously, Icy Blazers is very saturated with military strength due to their small land. While our match, Cadarn, has a fairly large land we could enjoy taking from. However, if any of our plan is to fail, I fear a big threat of their heavy retaliation. Belmore, lead your hell army south east to await more. Sverg, move south to prepare for war after Belmore's attack. We should anticipate a nice battle."

Belmore Organ walked quietly out of the room a gentle smile while Sverg Castings approached him. "Do you know the dangers?" Sverg asked him.

"I know of the scheme as clear as Maelstrom yet I cannot deny his authority. I'm just a thrown away pawn of the entire war. By feeding me to his enemies.. he is trying to scrape more time to heal his wounds. Even though he is clearly human, I knew of more evil schemes of those of human but nonetheless, our little infiltrator is as big a threat to him as Willn and he is scheming to let the two battle to the end."

"Why did you oblige to the conquest when you know you have to court death? I believe we baacs, can outfit him as a ruler. I do agree that his wife Stardoom, that vixen has quite a good control of the masses but surely we can overrun his puny little throne with our Undead and Hell forces. I clearly see that the orcs are rebelling against his control. The kobolds are also wanting to rest..." Sverg was saying and Belmore interrupted.

"He has every little assassin and spy to break your neck Sverg. You see and deem fit what is good for you only, I do not. I've lived longer than the majority of the baacs or should I say all the baacs that roamed Eor and guarding the Gate of Hell is not easy. I must allow someone to end my life so that he in turn will bring someone else to finish my job. One last thing, if you ever start thinking of rebellion, it will not take longer than a month for him to finish someone who lives in his land. He is more than what you believe and he knows pretty well how to react."

"It seems like I cannot help you then old friend. Be careful," Sverg warned and Belmore simply smiled.

Belmore Organ acquired Jace d' Alvarado's post of the Warlord of Evil while retaining his post of GateKeeper. Quarry Acad, the Golem Lord, Nasila Xilan, Assault Knight and Karlimax Eldamo, Starstrider immediately came under his command. Haszarx, Orc Chieftain and Razor were assigned by Stardoom to assist Belmore in his southeastern conquest. Even though the lands were large, Belmore and his legion could only advance towards the largest fortress in the land of Xyrulgile.

Upon receiving news that the enemy were gathering and advancing south-easterly, Willn approached his council the very moment. Immediately, Delt Barei, Turgic Swalves, Lordeon, Lagrimore and Quin Garil were summoned to the council hall. The more unimportant figures like Cavennah arrived later since they were informed much more later.

"The situation as far as we are concerned is very grave. The entire horde of orcs and the large elite force of sodic baacs can easily outflank our ranks and raze our castle in less than three months. Therefore I need all of you to muster up your forces and we decide on where to place them. Ambushes might not work with the sodic baacs due to their extreme fighting frenzy. I'll rather have our little tricks left for our main enemy force," Willn pointed out.

"Rest assured about the sodic baacs, milord. While they can be deadlier than any foes we can meet, they tend to be very unconditional against huge waves of magic. Our band of hundred odd magicians can handle them very well, while I personally lead them with the aid of Turgic Swalves," Lordeon suggested.

"Don't be overconfident Lordeon," Delt paused, "as far as I can see, our enemy leader is no other than the oldest baac, Belmore Organ. He is more well versed in magic than you are and he personally leads the three thousands sodic baacs. You'll exhaust your magic in less than two days. While your suggestion is quite fitting, we can have someone strong enough to take him personally. I'll say that Lord Xyrulgile will be the best man to lead a five hundred battle trolls and one thousand knights regiment face to face."

"Since we're not surrounded with a thick forest, we should make use of the small forest for the attack and the less they'll not fall for it. I will say that, Tanisha take a small troop of five hundred troll axethrowers and five hundred assault warriors, armed with axe and take position in the north of the forest here. Akri-Tef will lead another equal army in the south and Sagritacore shall guard the west. Sagritacore will allow entry but refuse their escape. They will have to make for the sea and let the orcs drown," Turgic Swalves spoke up.

"What about me?" Lagrimore asked.

"You have to bring your eight thousand battle trolls to lose the battle against Haszarx and flee straight towards the forest. When you reach the forest. Split your army into four and send three them to assist the assault team," Turgic Swalves grinned.

"Delt Barei, you shall lead the main squadron of twelve thousand soldiers of baacs and infantry while you standfast to hold off the attacks from the two hundred thousand enemy. It's a pretty nasty task, but you got to hold strong up there. The reinforcements will arrive later. Quin Garil will lead another twelve thousand infantry while Hugo Oris will receive orders from Quin with his five hundred knights. Quin, remember, you're only allowed to assist Delt when the enemy runs after Lagrimore with eight thousand infantry. Cavennah Bowell shall at all times stay guarding the castle and receive orders from Quin until Quin leaves the castle," Willn commanded.

"I suppose Cavennah is to march outside the outskirts of the castle with the four thousand spearmen and I remain steadfast with the four thousand infantry from Quin's legion? Am I wrong milord?" Kazan inquired.

"Nope. But there's more to it. In any event, the gate should be kept close from entering unless victory is secured, Kazan, even from our own forces. I missed out one, Jen, you shall assist my sister, Tanisha," Willn replied.

"The stakes are big and we'll be handling two hundred thousand odd army with our own forty odd thousand only. They are five times our size in army. We don't stand a chance to win without heavy massacre. I am pretty confident that they will take this route and we can achieve victory with a steady and organized army. All you all clear with your orders? Delt, assigned them their army and prepare for battle. We're to be alert at all times. Any slips and we'll be gone."
