September 2008.

This really classic me, isn’t it? A pencil piece, a nice beastie, lots of contrasts and a truckload of details. This image was, I have to admit, very directly inspired by a comment from fellow artist Maxine Cox on my Resurrection painting saying she was kind of expecting “something dreadfully macabre rising from the depth”. This time however she’s absolutely correct ;)

And the usual suspects from the tool box are: 0.5 & 0.7 mm mechanical pencils, HB & 3B and a bit of digital treatment. Please don’t ask how many hours spent on this… they are far too many for me to count or even remember ;)

Those worm like creatures are kinda cute, especially the one on the bottom left. Also really like the main dragon’s spines.

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Thank you. the worms/eels/snakes in the background were needed. I think the image would have been too empty otherwise. "

The background is AMAZING! It must have taken days just to do that! Great Picture. The shading in highlights of the creature and surroundings are good too.

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Actually. I did spend a few days on just the background, planning, sketching, shading and then shading some more... 1 Glad you liked it. Thank you."

Wow, fantastic, Louise, this is (in my opinion) your best one 1

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Aww... Thank you so much, Anne. "

I get the feeling this is far below the sea somehow! 11 Very nice beasty, as always! I really adore them! 1 Lovely details and a nice scary setting, popping up from dark holes like that! I think the ones in the background look kinda cute though! 12

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Thanks, Marika. Yeah, I’m wondering now afterwards if I made those worm/eel/snake-things too cute. Oh well... the main beast is at least a nice contrast to balance the whole thing out. Never happier than when drawing something nasty you know ;-)"

Hmm, not "your average earthworm" but atleast as flexible as one. Is it trying to pull himself to a knot? 12

As always a very nice pencil handling Louise. I especially like his skull-like head and spine which are almost like bursting out of him. And those rock "textures" are also good looking. Only one thing wrong. And that one thing is that I cannot find anything wrong in this picture. Oh, what is going to happen to me if I am not allowed to point out something. Buhuu...

Oh and I noticed that Maxine’s PoD has casted her webs over northern hemisphere also. Don’t say that she has minions in Sweden already? Have you "fallen" too? Do I have to be afraid of invasion? 2

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Nah... I don’t think you have to worry. Much 12 I am confident PoD’s powers over here are weakened by the huge distance so... no invasions.

I’m glad you liked my latest beast. I really wanted to have fun with the half-bone half-flesh-and-skin design on this one and it seem to have made a good impression so far. And rocks/stone... Another thing that I always enjoy drawing. I’ve actually got yet another project in the planning involving stone structures. Thanks for dropping by! 1 "

Nah, not too cute! It’s a fun contrast to the main beasty! 1 Like you said! *lol* I know! Me too! The evil and the wicked are so much more interesting then the goodly things! Right? 1

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Definitelly much more interesting. The overly cute and cuddly is pretty much banned from this gallery and has a restriction order forbidding them to come any closer than ten metres ;-) And I will not reveal what happens to anything with the colour pink. Though I’m not so sure on the whole "evil" thing. Having a scary appearance doesn’t always automatically mean you’re rotten to the bone. But it’s still more fun to portray, always has and always will 1 Teeth and tentacles are always a winning concept. "

This is really stunning. You are awesome with dragons and dragon-like creatures, and the details and pencils tecknique is amazing. Great work!

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Thank you. It’s one of those things I find most comfortable with and, frankly, is the most fun. And having fun is the most important thing, right? 12"

very very nice... wow.. like it alot.

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Thank you thank you. Glad you liked it, Jonas."

This is great. I like the little babies. Mostly because they’ll grow up to become just as nasty as their parent. At least, I’m assuming it’s their parent.

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "Well... If you’d like them to be, sure. That’s up to you. I just wanted something extra in the background to not make it completely flat and boring. 2"
7 Aug 2009:-) MT Starkey
I don’t think you could do flat and boring if you tried.

:-) Louise Lindgren replies: "You think? How sweet of you to say that. Thank you."
