(I wonder when I’ll get my lazy ass working on a sea dragon myself?) I love the teeth and the eye! *nod nod* Louise Lindgren replies: "They are such adorable sweethearts, aren’t they? You just want to hold them and cuddle them to death.... Erhm... Or something... ;-P I like the teeth as well, it looks a bit better with different sizes and mismatched fitting than with perfect symetrical rows. Now, imagine a set of those choppers heading for you from underneath. ;-) "

There you go then... don’t go swimming unless you can’t see the bottom, otherwise something else will see you first. (Which makes it pretty difficult where we live I have to say ;-P"
| 25 Jan 2008 | Panu Hakkarainen | Loading...Fortunately these creatures do not inhabitate those lakes where I use to swim. As they are "creatures of the depths" those are way too shallow for them. Okay... This is a fine color drawing and way better what I can make but still I like your pencil works better. Somehow I think they have much more feeling and in this particular case, much more menace. Don’t you dare to give up the pencil... do you hear! ;o) Louise Lindgren replies: "I hear you, loud and clear. Don’t worry, Panu, I’m not giving up on my trademark tool. My muse of pencils have just gone for a holiday, that’s all. I think it’s somewhere warm ’cause the postcards I’ve been getting lately all have palmtrees on them. It’s most annoying. How can one just head off without a word or even leaving a phone number? Hope it comes back soon though, ’cause I feel pretty lost without it. " | |

| 28 Jan 2008 | Kevin G Bibby | Loading...I don’t know I think you do quit well at the digital, but nothing beats the tactile experience of the pencil or the friction of the brush... physical manipulation of media in real space.... sorry I’ve done too many digi’s in a row, for me. Very nice, good details, and textures. I really like the contrasts of the body to the mouth and teeth, makes the teeth really stand out.....Vicious! Louise Lindgren replies: "The contrasts got a bit too much on this one I have to admit, even though it makes the teeth look yummy. I keep treating colour the same as greyscale, which I shouldn’t do at all, and I used a very early scan of the pencil lineart with a rough guide of the shading to get a guideline for the textures. Feels like I’m cheating almost ;-) But all in all... I agree with you, nothing beats real pencil on real paper. Well... That’s what I prefer at least. Thanks for dropping by " | |
| 7 Feb 2008 | Leif Eriksson | Loading...He looks like something that might live very deep in the ocean and has done so for a very long time. An ancient sea monster which old sea captains tell horrific stories about at night. Love the mix of blue tones with the yellow teeth and mouth, it works very well together. Great concept, keep up the good work! Louise Lindgren replies: "hehe... That’s right, forget the giant octopus. This is the real fright of the oceans. Ancient... Yeah... I like that word, very fitting. Makes you wonder how those captains’ stories goes. ;-)
I’m not that much of a digital artist but it’s fun to dabble around a bit every once in a while. Thank you so much, Leif, for the lovely, lovely comment. "
| 15 Dec 2008 | Katie Verdigris Smoke | Loading...*turns green* Not fair! I call myself a digital artist and I can’t do this *sulks* *comes out of sulk coz picture is too good to ignore* The shading is beautiful and you have a really amazing sense of colour. The background is a little unconvincing, a little rushed. You could have made the contrast more... contrasty.... back there, the black bit at the top more... black... Something tells me that sentence didn’t quite work. O welll! ^-^ Still very good. Louise Lindgren replies: "Nope, I firmly hold my ground, I am not a digital artist. I like to dabble every once in a while and if it’s good enough I post it. And yes, I know... the background could have been better. Not good with backgrounds in pencil either, and that’s my preferred medium! Anyway... Glad you liked it despite BG. Thank you. " | |
