This is based on a sketch of a statue by Dali of Alice in Wonderland. At the show they were playing this soundtrack with Dali talking. One of the things he said was 'L'Amor i la Gerra son la sal de la terra' which is Catalan for 'Love and War are the salt of the earth.'

Ironically, Dali would hate most of us here, he felt that fantasy was the worst possible thing, he tended to just mix up and distort things that already existed.

*chuckles* Since they've said it all, I will contribute my little piece. I love the flow and the bold lines . . . Would love to see more like this.

Whoops I had to come back.....cause I just thought of something, as my eyes scanned over your thumbnails.....this seems sorta Kathe Kollwitz-like. Thats a serious compliment, because she is one of my all-time favorites. She did a lot of drawings about peasant revolts, in Russia, Germany and Eastern Europe.....and she usually had a large allegorical woman(freedom?), in the clouds, or at the front of the peasant-mob arms raised up.... I don't know why, I just wanted to mention that to you.

If you'd wanted to express love, war and distortion in this drawing, you'd deffinately succeded. It entangled me, in a good way ofcours.

This is wonderful! *gets down on knees and worships the picture* Its amazing, the use of lines and color...not to sound like an art teacher, of course...but it just conveys...stuuuuf...wonderfully. And its too bad Dali felt like that, I've always loved his art. If only he'd realized that fantasy -- most of it, anyway -- realy *is* nothing but a slight distortion of things that already exist. You only have to open your eyes and look around to spot some metaphorical faeries, or vampires, or evil sorcerers that plan to dominate the world...

This is really powerful, the stance she is taking..the upraised arms..the energy swirling about her..
I love Dali..what I would say to him is..
One man's fantasy is another's reality.
While I do think that like humour, art is best when it reflects some truth who is to say what is true?
