From back in high school, when I was still using fashion magazines for help doing poses. But I used my own face as a model for hers. I still try to define myself through my art. In the many years it's been since I made this, I still haven't explored the full range of her character, but I do know that she represses powerful parts of herself, just as she represents repressed parts of myself. She is what happens when certain dynamic cycles of eneryg stagnate. I think she is what happens when Lilith is successfully held down and controlled. And so, ultimately, she must be transformed into the Empress. You can read about her a little in my library, but only a little, as a) her full potential still hasn't been explored, and b) her stories tend to be graphically violent. She's my inner sadist :) I've also been fussing over her name, and since I don't want there to be a gutteral stop, only some indication of two syllables, I'm probably going to change it. It was originally Vaak. The pronunciation in my head is VEIGH- ack. ANy suggestions as to how I can turn that into an easily understandable, but not too bulky name? The best I've come up with so far is Vaiak.

Ah, The thick rubber sense one gets here combined with the design and the woid background gives a very "Dune" movie atmosphere.. She looks like that girl whom Paul Atreides fell for. (*argh,, cant remember her name though*) ..but Its actually you I guess. 2
Anyways great shading and design, Good woork!

:-) Lisa Coleman replies: "Hmm, I'll have to try yet again to stay awake throughout that movie. (I always watch it at night) After all, the fat baron in it is my Grandmother's adopted cousin's husband."

I think it is pretty lame honestly sorry but the shoulders are bad and the head is off centered

I seem to have moved in to your exhibits. I love the shding. What did you use to lift off the charcoal to create highlights? She is very beautiful (although I seem to be saying that about a lot of te pople you draw, so maybe I'm just desperate), but I think that there is something vaguely wrong with the eyes. I cannot place it, though, so I suppose I will have to let it go.

:-) Lisa Coleman replies: "Actually, it's ordinary graphite, with the highlights erased out. It just looks darker thanks to photoshop. The eyes are supposed to be rather unsettling. The pupils are supposed to be cat-style, so that could be it. "
