SciFi and Fantasy Art Siren of the Spheres by Lisa Coleman

In my psyche, sirens have two forms, one that is mermaid-like, and the other that you see here. Plato said there was a siren that turned each of the crystalline spheres of heaven that contained the planets, perhaps that is who this beautiful being is.

On a more technical note, this thing was the biggest headache to make. Drawing the contorted torso from a picture of a dancer was the EASY part, having to get all the details in there while staring at that darn twisted figure was the pain.

13 Aug 2003	Ladyimbria	Loading... Here is another comment for you, in trade for another you gave me. I love the emotion evoked from this piece although I think it has an awkward crop. I think the foreshortening of the far wing is fantastic, but I think you should do a color version as this just doen't stand up to the quality of your color work, which I think is much better. Great Work though Lisa Coleman replies: "I'm experimenting with colors in it right now. I like the crop, but I often wonder which way should go up!"

17 Oct 2003	Tori	Loading... I like this, it's different, we could all use a little change sooner or later too. It has GREAT color. I think you should draw more things like this.
