| 29 Mar 2011 | Tony Orzech | Loading...You have some good concepts here Jeroen. Your dragons are looking good too. There are a few areas that you will want to do some work on. I suggest that you find some photos of bat wings and bird wings then take some time to do some study drawings of their structure. Try to find and draw wings from a number of different angles/positions. Drawing from a reference (life or photo) will make drawing from memory more accurate. It is great that you are putting your creatures/characters in an environment, giving them a place to ’live’ and props to interact with and within. But like the wings, you need to take more time to see what landscapes really look like. If you really want to make improvements with your art you must learn to see and then you will have a better base to draw from your memory. The best way to really see anything is to take the time to draw it from a reference. Most people do not have photographic memories and we often don’t really know what something looks like, even though we pass by it every day. That is why it is important for artists to draw from a reference so they can learn to really see. Then you will be able to include those things into a more finished and professional looking piece of art. You already know that drawing takes time and practice in order to get better. You have developed your drawing skills over the years, to the level you are at now, by taking the time to sit and draw. But memory is very limited without input. Drawing and studying references is that input. You have the ability now go get the input. Hope this helps, Good luck! Jeroen ChristianCreature Vercruysse replies: "allot tony thank you very much for your time! I ve never really thougt about it to be honest, wich kinda surprises meI will follow your advice and start using allot more references, thankyou again tony, thank you again " | |
