a poem I wrote about a year ago just for fun--it's about faeries, if anything (if you haven't guessed)

Fairies dance upon the pale,
Lustrous hues of fading spring.
In my mind the hunter’s wail
Melts into their fluttering wings.

Elven creatures, sprites and pixies;
Making mischief; healing wounds.
Summer’s splendor, winter’s beauty;
Silent as the silver moon.

Thoughts that flit across the conscious,
Memories not really there.
The blooming flower—Titania’s bower.
The slender fir; fauns and satyr,

A presence of unseen beauty
Tangible in clear, sweet melody
Seasons last but days, but weeks,
Precious jewels of dreams I keep.

This is a good poem, very visual. My own taste is more emotional and abstract...but this is good, i enjoyed it.

:-) Elizabeth Wilcox replies: "Thank you. ^_^ *yay someone read my poem and they didn't hate it!* This poem isn't really my regular style either--it just popped out one day."

*looks around* Why are there more comments?

This is so fun and pretty (yes, I said pretty). I love the fantasy creatures of the woods, and this captures a fun playful spirit, yet elegant at the same time. Hooray!

:-) Elizabeth Wilcox replies: "Thank you! I had no idea this was so great. 12"

Hmm...I liked it. The rhythm was pretty consistent, except for one line: "Memories not really there." The rhythm of this just didn't seem to fit with the rest...

Great overall, though! ^_^

:-) Elizabeth Wilcox replies: "thanks! I wrote this a long time ago, and it's nice to know it's mostly ok. "

I like it- very descriptive and atmospheric. There's only one bit that confuses me: 'Making mischief; healing wounds'. How is healing wounds making mischief?

:-) Elizabeth Wilcox replies: "Thanks for your comment! by 'making mischief; healing wounds' I didn't mean that healing wounds was mischievous. Rather, I was attempting to emphasize the duplicity of faeries--either portrayed as a huge pain or a great help."

Nicely written. good use of language. good rhythm, and enjoyable to read.I'm glad you think so, though I still think this needs a lot of work! (I wrote it ages ago)

I really enjoyed your poem. I don’t have a poetic bone in my body so I won’t be giving any critisizim. I think that you have a wonderful talent and I am glad that you chose to share that talent with the people that visit elfwood. Keep up the great work. I hope to see more poems written by you, especially about fairies, they are my favorite!
