Opius is not a prophet, he's not a villain nor a hero, nor is he one of the "LOL SLAVEBOY" nagas that are a dime a dozen these days. In fact, I've come to realize that he's not really a naga at all, it's merely his corporeal form.

Opius was the deity of some long-isolated, forgotten, and ultimately extinct civilization tucked away in the East somewhere. Perhaps in the mountains of Tibet, maybe some distant nomadic tribe of the desert. The point is, he is a god among their culture and was worshipped as such.

Said culture somehow gets wiped off the face of the planet, I'm not yet sure of the details yet, but it may be closely connected as to how Opius was blinded (because he is blind, but he wasn't always...he remembers what colors are and certain fleeting images) and as to how he was trapped in his corporeal form of a half human, half snake. Said accident also presumably scrambled his memory, because now he's a very, very lost and confused deity with no one left to worship him or even remind him who he is.

A dormant god, so to speak. He presumably still retains all kinds of bizarre ethereal powers and such, but has forgotten how to use them or that he even has them. He simply wanders through life in a haze of darkness and confusion now, drawn strangely to places of religious worship, be they church, synagogue, temple, Mecca... whatever.

I never knew, one could look so sad and serious with pink hair and skin... I love the story and can almost feel, how confused a lonely god must be.
You better hire good guards, or scraming fangirls will steal him... 12

That is an awesome back story, and let me say that the steams of light coming in and illuminating the crumbling wall and mice really shows the situation of him - he is lost and forgotten, just like the building...I don't think I explained that well, but I hope you get my meaning.
