Princess Kidagakash (Kida for short) is the heir to the kingdom of Atlantis in Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire. She's tough to draw...or I found her to be. She still doesn't look right, but this is my best attempt at her thus far.

Hey! This is a great pic! I, myself being a major Atlantis fan, have tried many times to draw the characters, but it never comes out right...do you have any other fan art? If so, is it possible for you to e-mail it to me? You're a great artist, and I wish I was as good as you....

:-) Laurie A. LeBlanc replies: "From Atlantis? Just one drawing of Milo. It's just in the pencil sketch stage though. And are you doing some sort of fan art page?"

Nadia did NOT rip off Jules Verne. Whoever thinks that is an imbecille. Ripping off involves not giving the originator any credit and trying to pass it off as your own original work. Anyone with an ounce of brains can see in the opening credits of each and every episode "Based on the book "20,000, Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Verne". Verne's estate got paid the appropriate royalties and gave them permission.

Disney however wont even go so far as to admit theres any sort of resemblence whatsoever. They know theyre guilty of plagarism and wont admit it. They did it with Kimba, and theyre doing it here. If you cant see it, you're not only stupid, you're blind.

But then I guess you Disney suckups cant be bothered with the truth. Your almighty rat can do no wrong.

As for the picture, it's drawn quite well and bears a good likeness to the character, plagarized as she may be. Nice job nonetheless.

:-) Laurie A. LeBlanc replies: "The directors admitted that elements of Atlantis were borrowed from anime- but not Nadia. They mentioned the themes they borrowed as nods to Castle in the Sky and I definitely see that. The crystal scene is very close. Never saw Nadia to judge myself. The Kimba/Simba thing I think has more merit of an arguement than the Nadia/Atlantis ones. Can Disney do wrong? Duh, yes. Just for liking it I do not believe they are a perfect company. And honestly, I wasn't too big of a fan of Atlantis, but I waned to try out the style. Didn't work for me."

On the subject of plagiarism: Now, I've not seen Nadia but I HAVE seen the web-site which shows the similarities between Nadia and Atlantis. Sure, there are similarities which could hint to plagiarism but I don't see how it is. I'll have to watch Nadia, but all the pictures and info that I saw from the site really only showed similarities and, well, that's where the stopped. Apparently, there are shots (as in, camera shots) in Atlantis that there are in Nadia which was used to show the similarity but the kind of camera work seen in both is not something to consider as plagiarism. Like, the two people on the tower looking at and the handing over of a mystical jewel maong other things... but these are dramatic and popular shots used not only in these two things. I enjoyed the movie, maybe I'll enjoy Nadia as well.

Also, as far as Kimba the White Lion and The Lion King comparisons go, they stop at the characters being African animals. The stories and the characters are quite different, especially Simba and Kimba having little to no comparison in personality. The Lion King, btw, is one of the best movies. It showed people in their middle ages, the evolution of cartooning, and that an animated feature can have just as much depth as a live action movie.

I'm sorry I turned this from talking about your picture into a "blah, blah" thing. I apologize. But I will comment on your picture. It is good. It certainly captures the character. There's room for improvement, no doubts there, but certainly its a good piece and you should like it. Disney animators/designers are among the VERY best of their field and to capture something that do is not usually easy. At least, as far as their movies go *I loathe you Disney Channel*.

I like it, anyways.

Well, the character in the movie is very pretty, i almost fell in love with her.
About you rpicture... it looks good but i know why you don't like it yourself... all you need to do is add shadows for example under her eyes and under her hair and if you drew her just in pencil it would look great (in fact I'm drawing her right now in pencil and she's turning out great) that's all i can tell you about the picture feel free to email me if you have any questions about anything i said.(wow this spell checker really helps)
