| Good and Evil are born, but their parents seem confused about what they should do with little Max. They grow older and are assigned to rule Heaven and Hell, taking their roles as God and Satan. |

He erupted into life screaming and wailing, slippery and red faced. He had followed another baby just minutes before. He was shortly taken away baling to be cleaned. At the tender age of two minutes he managed to puzzle the midwife, although he cannot remember the exact words, being it was so long ago, she might of said something like, “Well, we either have a little boy or a big girl.” Which, as you can imagine, puzzled the parents.
Two neatly wrapped and cleaned babies were returned to the mother and the midwife got her pay and shortly after left. The new parents named their children the names that a bronzed god may have: Alexander for the first one, Maximilian for the next. Of course naming the second a name like Maximilian was a difficult decision. He seemed to be ill-equipped for a male, and over equipped for a female. But the rule is with babies like these; never take it off till you let your kid decide their path. The parents figured a name like Maximilian could easily change to Maxine without the child noticing much of a change.
Beside being twins and beside one of them being an ‘it’ these children had a very interesting path set before them. This also means that it is important to save money for therapists, interesting paths are typically traumatizing ones. These babies were born before the existence of humanity, before love and reason, before even good and evil. However Good and Evil’s roles would soon be filled. These bouncing baby boys (or maybe a boy and a girl) were born to Earth and Nature. These bouncing baby boys (or maybe a boy and a girl) were to fill the positions of Good and Evil.
Alex and Max had recently celebrated their 18th birthday. Being twins they had the same birthday, 3 minutes and 26 seconds apart. They were healthy, good looking, and ready to start off on their own.
Alex had an adorable baby face, fetching blue eyes, and dimples that stapled his rosy lips into a smile. Max was lean, pale skinned, and had dark sockets. His hair was deep rich brown and so were his eyes.
The two were born together, slept together, ate together, and played together until this day. This birthday finally marked their separation of ways into their own lives.
First some basics needed to be taken care of. Alex and Max were sent from their home to create their own worlds; Heaven and Hell. After humanity was born the twins would share their worlds with them, and rule the people in their domain.
Alex was to create heaven, his parents always knew this. He was sweet, generous, and honest. It was obvious he was to be Good.
Alex had a vision; he was going to open up his heart and let all his visions of happiness pour out. Alex liked flowers, puppy dogs, trees good for climbing, ice cream, dirt, and good swimming holes. Soon Heaven was filled with these. It was the epitome of childhood memories and freedom. I never said Alex was all that mature.
Max, on the other hand, preferred order, reason, sense, and rules. He wasn’t going to create a world just to fill it up with lemonade stands and hopscotch. He created a great city, Dis, and everything in it had some sort of order. Roads were set out as a coordinate grid system, and named according to their position on this grid. There was public transportation, mail systems that don't loose post, and work schedules you could set your watch to. If it made sense, it was here.
Now since humanity does not yet exist you may wonder what or who inhabited these worlds. Alex, being the free spirit, created a species of beautiful people (no reference to Marilyn Manson), they looked and sang perfectly. Alex just managed to forget about their brains. The Angels, as they were called, were dumb as rocks, but they were they pretty polished kind of rocks.
Max created a race of people who would fulfill his dream of order. His dream came tumbling down when these beings revolted, transformed, and became completely different than he intended. They were rebellious, rude, and spat a lot. Of course, nothing in Max’s life seemed to turn out and being a teenage drama queen didn't help. This is how Heaven and Hell formed. It requires much hard work and thought to create your own world from scratch. Alex had a paradise that would please any child at heart, and Max had tried to create a land of law, but as most authoritative organizations go; it fell apart and lay ruined and burning on the ground.
Humanity came along shortly after. As it opened it’s eyes and looked around this luscious and plentiful earth it quickly went to action destroying it. Not only did it suck the resources from it, but it also messed with its gods. Good and Evil became God and Devil with the drop of an O and the adding of a D. Humanity ignored their deities and crawled into a hole of destruction and knowledge. But we’re jumping ahead of ourselves.
Together Good and Evil (or to their friends, Alex and Max) created these beings that were to live on the planet their father, Earth, had created. Alex gave them bliss in a beautiful garden, similar to his paradise, and gave them ignorance. Alex really hated icky things, and knowing too much is an icky thing.
Max wanted to get his say in these curious people and gave them knowledge, now, humans eventually developed some story on how this happened with some sort of apple tree and a snake, but the message is the same. Max wanted these people to understand the difference between Good and Evil. He also wanted them to understand order and reasoning. Of course, in brother rivalry, Alex got angry that his brother was trying to take over and appear as the good one to the humans, so he took away his garden and left them all alone, hungry, and too smart for their own good.
Soon the humans started pouring into the After Lives. The fire and brimstone bit about Hell just so happens to start because when humans started to enter Hell the Demon Riots had recently taken place, destroying all of Max’s tedious work to create a logical paradise for himself. Now, the riots are over and they’re pretty much rebuilt down there.
Heaven stayed the same as when it was created, only because Alex didn’t see the need of giving his Angels much thought in their minds, so they didn’t know to revolt and just accepted things as they flowed by.
