Max was busy enjoying his dinner alone at his 12 foot table. It sat approximately 26 people from what he could guess, but he did not know for he had never filled the table with more than one person.
He was just about to take a bite from a spoonful of mashed potatoes drowned in gravy when he noticed there was someone sitting the whole 12 feet across from him at the other end of the table.
“I have something for you, Max!” said a familiar cheery voice, “and she’s excited to meet her new man.”
“Agh! Alex, will you never leave me alone. Don’t you see that I am eating! This is not a time for you to come in your pink shirt and leather sandals to destroy my delicate appetite!”
There was the sound of Alex snapping his long delicate fingers and a woman suddenly popped into existence in the seat on Max’s left. The woman was thin and young. Her hair fell around her shoulders wildly and to Max’s surprise it was glittery and silver. Max had never seen silver hair before, but he liked it. Her eyes seemed too big for her face and long dark eyelashes surrounded them. The woman’s skin was pale except her cheeks that were a rose pink and smooth like a baby’s bottom.
Max just stared, unable to say anything. He had never seen in his life a creature like this one. He tried several times to talk, but his jaw just moved without any noises coming out.
Suddenly, Alex was sitting right on Max’s right.
“Her name is Nada,” he said sweetly.
This wasn’t fair! Alex had come in here with the most beautiful creature in the universe and waved it under Max’s nose. There had to be some sort of catch, Max didn’t trust Alex one bit.
“Hello, Nada,” Max choked out, “I’m Max.” Oh! Max felt so ashamed, what a dumb thing to say, how typical. You can’t win a girl over by being typical. Although, Max knew little about women since he had never gave them much thought until recently.
“Aw isn’t that just adorable?” Alex had to comment. Max broke out in a blush, although it was hard to see since his face had been powdered that morning. He had never felt this way before.
“Hi, Max,” Nada said. Her voice was horribly seductive and made Max think of doing things that made his stomach turn.
“I uh... I... well you...” Max stumbled over words, feeling completely idiotic, and not only that, but the mashed potatoes and gravy was hanging from his lip. He was too dumbfounded to notice it dripping into his lap.
Nada giggled, “You’re drooling something.”
Max realized the disgusting dribble of hot brown gravy coming from his mouth and quickly whipped it up, “I’m sorry I...” On top of just drooling into his lap he was still at loss for words.
Nada just smiled, she didn’t think he looked idiotic. The drooling was actually kind of cute. That is how things like this usually work out. You feel like a complete idiot in front of your crush, and they just think it’s damn cute. Luckily for Max, this was one of those times.
“I’ll just leave her here to chat with you Max, sweetie,” Alex hummed at Max, he had a huge grin plastered on his face. Max had learned that huge grins usually mean something other than being very happy, at least with Alex.
Alex disappeared in a poof of lilac aroma. That left Max alone with Nada. He felt so foolish, she was as beautiful as Venus and he had nothing to say and was drooling on himself.
“I... like... I like your hair,” Max managed to spit out.
Nada just watched him, smiling, “Thank you.”
Max called over a butler, “Could you bring her some potatoes?” The butler left to go fill a plate for Nada.
“Oh yummy that looks good,” Nada said as the butler returned with her food. She immediately tried some and squealed.
“What’s wrong?” Max was worried she hated the food.
“This is so good! You have a good cook!”
“Thank you, I uh... hired him myself,” Max explained, “He cooked at the last supper.”
“Hm,” she replied. While eating her potatoes she wondered why someone that cooked at the last supper would make mashed potatoes that tasted like they came from a box. But Nada could act as if she felt otherwise, “Nice castle too,” she continued.
“Oh yes, built in 600 B.C. after the last one burnt down.”
The was an awkward silence until Max broke it.
“Is Alex just leaving you here or are you going back?” he hoped she was just staying here. She was amazing.
“Oh, I’m supposed to stay here and be your wife.”
Max’s jaw dropped. He didn’t expect that. You’re supposed to work for relationships, not just be thrown one by your twin brother. Then again, he couldn’t argue. He was getting everything he wanted all at once.
