What irritates me a little bit is the strong contrast between the sharp cottage and the blurred trees and ground. They look a bit as if they were floating and maybe adding some (only some) little sharper strokes at the barks of the trees or at the grass as you did it at the leaves of the trees would give more "presence" to them. Lora Craig-Gaddis replies: "I agree. The same thing that irritates you about this picture is bothering the heck out of me also. I'm so glad that you (and a few others) have pointed it out. I don't think I'll ever make the same boo-boo in a painting - and maybe I can go back and "fix" this one in the way you've suggested...it might work! Thanks!" | |

| 15 Oct 2003 | Kati | Loading...I have to agree with the comment by anonymous (on May 16th) about liking the way the trees kinda float. Almost makes it appear that this cottage (and the witch walking out front) could disappear at any moment. Kinda like some of the old fairy-tales in which the cottage could only be found by accident or if you were MEANT to find it, but couldn't be found again. I like it the painting the way it is. | |
