I've always been lousy at perspective, so I stuck a model of a cottage on top of my moniter and tried to draw it. The picture sort of grew from there. Now it's a Witch's Cottage (herb garden's out back). Has the girl been to see the Witch? Or is she the Witch? You decide! Paintbrush Pro.

The picture is very nice, the colors you used match together very good and create a "natural feeling". What irritates me a little bit is the strong contrast between the sharp cottage and the blurred trees and ground. They look a bit as if they were floating and maybe adding some (only some) little sharper strokes at the barks of the trees or at the grass as you did it at the leaves of the trees would give more "presence" to them.

:-) Lora Craig-Gaddis replies: "I agree. The same thing that irritates you about this picture is bothering the heck out of me also. I'm so glad that you (and a few others) have pointed it out. I don't think I'll ever make the same boo-boo in a painting - and maybe I can go back and "fix" this one in the way you've suggested...it might work! Thanks!"

This is lovely, it reminds me strongly of Goldberry and Tom Bombadils Hut (allthough there were no Trees, 2 ) Your art is quite charming!

ah, tis a young maiden who is going home chastised by the old witch for asking just how much it would cost to turn her latest suiter into a frog. Poor dear.

She's looking for an explanation for the strange visions she keeps getting. only the witch can help her. But, alas she's not in. Probably out picking wild flowers. . .

A beautiful picture.

*sigh* I wish I had a cottage like that to go to! What a very sweet life that witch must live!

beautiful, i like this. I think she looks a little like she's been told off for bringing her mother the wrongs herbs and has been sent out!

After struggling with the coming visions of darkness for the lands of Afarfyel. The young witch Ynessa Lyanfarel takes a walk near her home. Who knows it might be her last before going out into the gathering storm. Cool picture.

*laughs* hey, this looks alot like me. I walk like this, too. And this looks like my house!!

Scary. But a very good pic.

I really like the way it looks like its floating because it make the cottage and the girl really stand out and it looks more mystic.

I have to agree with the comment by anonymous (on May 16th) about liking the way the trees kinda float. Almost makes it appear that this cottage (and the witch walking out front) could disappear at any moment. Kinda like some of the old fairy-tales in which the cottage could only be found by accident or if you were MEANT to find it, but couldn't be found again. I like it the painting the way it is.
