I’m currently creating some new tours about the Valar and Maiar 12

:-) Golden Wood replies: "That is an excellent idea, in fact if you have any more Tolkien-related tours, we could even try to link them in the ’main page’ here. : )"

Knocks on round green door, with a funny strange mark scratched on to it ...Hi everyone, sorry I`m late ... 2

:-) Golden Wood replies: "’Come along in and have some tea!’ 1"

I’m a bit late too... Got swallowed by some crazy tree in another part of the woods. Never mind; Here now! Hope more will follow and that they won’t be intimidated by ..#ahem#..the standard set by the present company.

:-) Golden Wood replies: "It is hoped that there will be more ’inspiration’ (and fun too) than anything like intimidation around here. 12"

Greetings to everyone. Here is a link that might be of interest: http://www.elfwood.com/~goldenglade. A fairly long list, but most of it not particularly active.

Welcome to the woods. This is a great initiative you have taken here.

:-) Golden Wood replies: "Good to see you here. Yes, it was about time Tolkien illustrators had a corner of their own around here. "

This is a question to all the present Tolkein people with a possible future project in mind which may or may not turn out to be a great deal of fun: What is everyone’s take on the recent film adaptation of the LOTR? 15
    1 Nov 2008:-) Richard Svensson
I think the LOTR movies are the greatest achievement in cinema history. When I first saw them I was totally blown away by the imagery, the atmosphere and the emotion. But at the same time I was very distracted by the details that were changed from the books: Lines from one character put into the mouth of another, Aragorn carrying a different sword than Narsil (until the end), Gimli being mostly played for laughs... They’re not, to me, the definitive adaptation of LOTR, but one very good version among many good. I dearly love the films for what they are and am looking forward to "The Hobbit" like no other film project to come!

Hello, everyone! I just finished and posted an animated adaptation of Tolkien’s poem "The Mewlips" on YouTube. It’s also got the wonderful music of Colin Rudd. You’ll find it here:

:-) Golden Wood replies: "This is really brilliant stuff. How long did it take you to make all the animation? Although you can’t do much about sound, but perhaps you can post a snippet of it here on Elfwood. "
    11 Nov 2008:-) Richard Svensson
Thanks! The animation took about two weeks, working almost every night with it. Which goes to show that it’s a pretty slow process! I’ve been thinking of taking a proper photo of the mewlips in their cellar and posting that.
