Hope more will follow and that they won’t be intimidated by ..#ahem#..the standard set by the present company. Golden Wood replies: "It is hoped that there will be more ’inspiration’ (and fun too) than anything like intimidation around here. "

| 30 Oct 2008 | Golden Wood | Loading...This is a question to all the present Tolkein people with a possible future project in mind which may or may not turn out to be a great deal of fun: What is everyone’s take on the recent film adaptation of the LOTR? | |
| 1 Nov 2008 | Richard Svensson | Loading...I think the LOTR movies are the greatest achievement in cinema history. When I first saw them I was totally blown away by the imagery, the atmosphere and the emotion. But at the same time I was very distracted by the details that were changed from the books: Lines from one character put into the mouth of another, Aragorn carrying a different sword than Narsil (until the end), Gimli being mostly played for laughs... They’re not, to me, the definitive adaptation of LOTR, but one very good version among many good. I dearly love the films for what they are and am looking forward to "The Hobbit" like no other film project to come! | |
| 11 Nov 2008 | Richard Svensson | Loading...Hello, everyone! I just finished and posted an animated adaptation of Tolkien’s poem "The Mewlips" on YouTube. It’s also got the wonderful music of Colin Rudd. You’ll find it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6ntMbUEjf0 Golden Wood replies: "This is really brilliant stuff. How long did it take you to make all the animation? Although you can’t do much about sound, but perhaps you can post a snippet of it here on Elfwood. " | |
| 11 Nov 2008 | Richard Svensson | Loading...Thanks! The animation took about two weeks, working almost every night with it. Which goes to show that it’s a pretty slow process! I’ve been thinking of taking a proper photo of the mewlips in their cellar and posting that. | |

Just wondering what the rest of you guys make of this?

The Hunt for Gollum is out on the web now, on YouTube, especially, where you can view the whole film. It’s well done, but veeerrryyy modelled after Jackon’s Ring trilogy. It’s terribly slow, too. I’d preffered to see a Tolkien adaptation with more personal designs of settings, clothes and stuff. But it seems to be very popular and very appreciated.
