This is the official cover box illustration for Fantasy Flight Games table top / board game named Call of Cthulhu, Arkham Horror, which is based on the worlds of renowned horror master H.P. Lovecraft.

My girlfriend, Natascha, made the conceptual sketch, so this is the first painting we’ve worked together on :-)

Painted during quite a few evenings using Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Reference used for the characters.

Painted december 2005.

Close-ups and steps here!

This pic has that quality to it. I especially like the juxtaposition of the tentacled creature with those people from a 20's/30's "hard boiled" movie.

I also like the background, and the shading. COOL!

The guy in the front. I'm worried about him. He's clearly scared of something not in the picture - and in Lovecraft's world, that's.. frightening.
Great piece! Well done on being published.

I'm totally addicted to the game. It's great and fun to play. FFG did a fantastic job on this game.
And being an artist myself I was stunned by the high quality artwork. Now I found the wonderful artist and have the possibility to tell you how much I like and admire your work.
Especially the way of lighting is getting the atmosphere up.
Thanks for bringing the horror to our living room so vividly. (In a positive way *lol*).
Thanks for sharing your art with us...
Cheers Jenny

Very fitting and accurate, and very well done, although I agree with Marika that green would probably have been a better tentacle colour choice. But then I suppose it does take all kinds 1

i enjoy the pink tentilcles, i think it’s rather fitting.
i also really enjoy the noir aspect of it. but maybe i’m just a sucker for that kind of thing.
