This is an official illustration for Fantasy Flight Games collectible card game named Call of Cthulhu, which is based on the worlds of renowned horror master H.P. Lovecraft.
Painted july 2005.

Illustrations for card games like this always have short deadlines, and are supposed to be viewed on a smaller scale than here.

It's supposed to illustrate a party of explorers checking out a massive ruin called "City of the pillars". The ones who knows the books and setting might know more about this than I do. :-)

6 Jul 2006	Scorpius Raven Drakes	Loading... Oooh, love the atmosphere : you can almost FEEL the heat and the dust! In Islamic folklore, Irem, the City of Pillars, was the city of Djinn, or demons. There's something about the composition of the piece, that you could feel somebody, or THING watching you! Excellent job! I love Lovecraft's work, and this truly lives up to it!
