This is an illustration for Fantasy Flight Games collectible card game named A Game of Thrones, which is based on the world of best-selling author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice & Fire.

The character is Tormund Giantsbane, and he is a big wildling. He is a loudmouthed braggart who always tells crazy stories about all the incredible things he’s done. And yet he’s strangely likeable, and his stories are a lot of fun to listen to.

Illustrations for card games like this always have short deadlines, and are supposed to be viewed on a smaller scale than here. This time George R.R. Martin himself was approving the art-works, and commented back, which was great fun :-)

It's awesome! This man looks crazy as hell, I wouldn't be on the other hand of his sword. He looks both strong and swift.

This reminds me of the sagas and the bards telling of battles their king has won. Would love to see you make something inspired of our mythology 2

The simple fact of looking at this picture makes me laugh. I can perfectly imagine the hysterical / barbaric way he's laughing when i look at him.. Pass the aleskin there! *drinks heartly and coughs hard* "I think he likes it! Bahahaha!"

THis is great, looks just like the bluff bragging tormund i imagined......looking at other artwork I cant help but notice the lack of Jon Snow and Ghost, are they likely to be showing up soon? 1........and for the previous comment......Wildlings are "savages" who live in the freezing lands north of a giant wall in George RR Martins books, basically like the scots the other side of Hadrians Wall when the romans conquered Britain......If you haven't read the books I would say go do it 1
