| 8 May 2004 | Aimee Maxine Kitchens | Hiya... You visited and commented at my gallery. Thank you a lot for that. It is always a bonus to hear from others that they like your work. I came to see your gallery. You have some great potential jumping around in your hands and your brain. It is just tethering them together to get them to stop jumping that is the chore... hehee.... The more you draw, the better you become, because you learn from your own mistakes. You move from one style to another until you have created your own... right now, Mine is Gel pens and highlighters. It will change again eventually. Keep up the good work... remember... Volume... Quantity.... the sheer masses of sketches you draw will improve your connection between your creative mind and your atristic tallent. RIDE THAT UNICORN!!!! WOOOHOOOOOO!!! Lucia M. Li replies: "Thanks! I've taken to carrying a sketch book around and randomly doodling in it when I'm bored. Not sure if it's helping or not...! I'm definitely taking your advice about drawing as much as possible; hopefully real life won't interfere too much!" | |
| 9 May 2004 | The (less than) Lofty Tree (or Krausetree) | Hmm. This gallery is looking sharp--particularly the Silmarillion pictures. The style is shaping up--you have a sense of line grace that I cannot even fathom. The one thing I'd mention is to beware of the colored pencils--they are not always friendly, and to be overawed by them is to let them have control, and they'll inevitably want the picture flat and the colors too bold to be realistic. Like paint programs, or basically anything that contains any function similar to painting. In any case, good luck! Lucia M. Li replies: "thanks for your compliments! I know now what you mean by pencil crayons; I'm useless at them, thnk I'll stick to pencil or pastel etc. I've just finished another Sil one which I'm loading up soon- hope you like that one! Thanks for dropping by!" | |

I left you a comment about shading in your gallery." | |
