SciFi and Fantasy Art Guardian of Stars by Lydia ´Prairieghost´ Jacobs

Paralin is the 200,000-year-old Guardian of Stars, daughter of Pyros, Guardian of Fire, and Tia, Guardian of Earth. Of all the Guardians, she is one of the friendliest, but anger her and you can pretty much kiss your existance goodbye.
~*~Drawn in pen and colored on the computer. One of my biggest frustrations with most artwork of unicorns is that...well, they just look like horses with horns. There's no real emotion to it. I tried to prevent that with this pic.~*~

21 Dec 2002	Tarah D. Willett	Loading... This one caught my eye over all of them. I agree w/ Fiz - it reminds me of TLU, too, but more-so from the thumbnail. This is awesome! I can't do a lick of art on the computer. ^=^ It's very... fantastical. I like the 'glowing' appearance, and the flowing mane you gave her. Fabulous job. God Bless!~
12 Apr 2003	Sara 'Birdy' Hannon	Loading... Mommy, I wanna be Paralin when I grow up! XD Sweet Jesus and dead puppies, this is gorgeous. I agree with Tarah, this really caught my eye. (Which was a bit annoying, because I had to go and get it back. Hahaha. Ha.) Nice use of hints of colors and subtle lense flares. Mmm... lense flares.

20 Feb 2004	Raven	Loading... Oh wow. I like the... Actually, I like everything. She looks sorta like Amalthia from the Last Unicorn... I think it's the star shape around her horn that does it... Anyways, I've been going through your gallery, and all your work is absolutely stunning. I especially like this one. I've always had a soft spot for unicorns. ^_^
11 Aug 2004	Jasmine	Loading... I rarely find that a unicorn is just a horse with a horn. to me it represents hope, and love, and well, just a desire to be something. You captured the whimsical and warm side of the classic image. if i could, i would have that one hung in my room in a heart beat.

I hear you about the "horses with horns" type unicorns...I can't stand them myself but I end up drawing them quite a bit anyway, because that's what a lot of people like (I am a shameless panderer, I know). But this is awesome! This is what a unicorn should be! Her face is my favorite; her expression seems so wise! Lydia 'Prairieghost' Jacobs replies: "I know, I know... I'm a panderer too. I draw a lot for myself too, because, well, I'm always creating something so I have the luxury, but a lot of times I make things I don't like because I know someone with money will. As for wise, that was intentional. (Imagine that! I actually got the end result I was striving for!) Paralin's a very motherly character in my stories, but piss her off and she'll drop a meteor on your house lol"
